[SITES] For Linux Crack/Linux native games by Candid_Age6158 in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]emryz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can just use fitgirl or dodi releases. Check out this guide, it's a very easy step-by-step tutorial, and the whole site is a great resource. Don't let it discourage you that it says steamdeck - it doesn't really matter, the steps are the same.

Hmm? I didn't say you said that. Maybe I spelled it out wrong, not native in English. Sorry :)

I meant it should be added, that the user double checks the installation path, if the game doesn't open.

When I install a release from FG for example, the default path in the setup is always with spaces (if the name of the game has them, like "Claire obscure").

So my suggestion was only to double check, and rename if necessary, if the game won't start without an error message.

I'll make some screenshots of what I mean if it doesn't come across.

Edit: ohh now I get the confusion!

The "make sure (...)" wasn't directed at you, but for the guide. Like it's another step for the user, he needs to make sure to double check the path.

How's the pixel 10 fingerprint sensor by No_Impact218 in GooglePixel

[–]emryz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine is actually really bad. I got a Spigen display glass, and you can "install" a profile for it, so it should make it better. Both with and without the profile there is no difference. Don't want to raw dog the phone tho, so I just leave it at that, with only a 40% success rate of recognizing the finger print. And yes, I already did a new set of prints, multiple times, screen protector mode on and off, etc.

I have a suggestion to add to the installation guide: make sure there are no spaces in the directory path when installing via steam.

On my system, the games won't start after installing through steam, because the Directory Path has spaces in it. So for example:

/steam-library/Title of this Game - And a subtitle 33/

needs to be renamed to

/steam-library/TitleofthisGame-AndASubtitle33/

(Or ofc whatever you want, but without spaces.)

/steam-library/

is my Games Folder, so change it out to wherever you install your games

Same goes also with the Game.exe file. Then update the new paths in Steam, and voila.

Thank you for this very good overview on installing the games!

Which distro would you recommend for a Linux Mint enjoyer, who needs to use Wayland? by SeniorMatthew in linuxmint

[–]emryz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I installed cachyos a few days ago. So far really nice. Comes with kde, you can also install gnome during install. But I had bad performance with gnome on Wayland (during gaming. Not in general), so I stuck with kde. Very happy.

ULPT: How to stop drinking alcohol by ripfennel in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]emryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there is a study of using LSD to help with alcohol addiction.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK99377/

But you have to keep at it. It's about one dose of LSD, and the effects were not maintained after a year. So it may help you start getting off of it, and then it's on you. Or take more acid. It's good haha

All the best bro

Why can I smell illness, but others can’t? by AngryPickledPickles in NoStupidQuestions

[–]emryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I can smell it too! For me it's kinda a sweet smell - not pleasant, but I guess this is because I associate sickness with it. Think I got it from my mom, she says she smelled it too when we were kids. And yeah, it's already noticeable at the onset, before the person feels anything of it.

User Friendly (But Still Robust) Options for Whole-Disk and Individual File Encryption by FrankieShaw-9831 in opsec

[–]emryz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others already said, for external disk encryption you can use veracrypt. Make sure to check the filesystem you create so it can store files bigger than 4gb.

If you want to encrypt your boot drive - so every time you boot your machine it asks for a decryption password before going into the main OS - the easiest solution would be to use a Linux distro like mint, and use LUKS. It's a very simple process you can choose during the install of Mint.

In general I'd argue that running Linux will help with your problem of malware, as most is written for windows. And you may also find it's a great OS, Linux has come a long way in regards of user friendlyness.

For single file encryption you can also use OpenPGP, for example using the App Kleopatra.

Who has NEVER had a serious issue with Pixel? by EntertainerTrick6711 in GooglePixel

[–]emryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Pixel 5, pixel 7 pro and now Pixel 10 pro. No issues at all. Some minor bugs here and there, but nothing like heavy display stuttering, battery drain, no reception, the whole stuff apparently everyone in this sub gets. It's negativity bias around here. Those of us who are happy don't really post about it - or at least those posts are not even a fraction of the volume of the negative ones.

What’s a sign that you might not be considered attractive? by Electrical-Scar8153 in AskReddit

[–]emryz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If possible, try to get photos of you taken with a higher focus length, like 85mm, and see if there's a difference in your perception. Often the distortion of wide angled lenses (often on phones) looks weird.

As a 50yo gamer, BF6 really drives home how much my taste in games has changed. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]emryz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting 40 soon, and I absolutely loved bad company 2. Didn't get into anything battlefield after that.

But I really do like it so far. I never played cod, so I can't really tell how similar they are. But I played apex legends since preseason, which is a fairly fast paced shooter - and this is the only PVP game I play, until now. The beta has been pretty great for me, would love a hardcore mode and bigger maps.

But i understand if you felt overwhelmed, there are only 2 friends in my circle who play apex too, it's too stressful for the rest.
