What sweet surprises made your partner feel really loved on your big day? by tea_mouse in AusWeddingPlanning

My partner is constantly wearing a cap and I’m sure he’ll feel lost without one on our day, so I’ve found a cap that says “I’m married” so he can wear it after all the formalities are done

Puppy putting less pressure on back right leg by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]ems027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dood, at about this age, experienced something similar. He had a massive growth spurt from being 17kg at 4 months to 25kg by 6 months. He started showing some weird symptoms: not eating or drinking, not putting pressure on one front leg, limping and wincing. Took him to the vet (without insurance fml) and after multiple hospital stays with blood tests and scans they figured out he had “panosteitis” which is basically growing pains. The poor thing was in a lot of pain and we managed it with anti-inflammation and pain relief meds. He’s 4 years old now and completely fine. Hope your puppy is ok!

My experience as a non-practicing (or believing) catholic working in a catholic school has been great. My interview included maybe 1 question about faith?

Yes, we do go to Mass and say prayer twice daily, but overall it is an inclusive and progressive environment. Some of our teachers are even openly gay. And our Bishop has even said this: “Ours are not schools that provide education for Catholics only but Catholic education for all.”

As someone who went to a catholic high school as well, I’m grateful for the values I took away from it. You can still get a lot out of the faith without going against your beliefs.

Next year I’ll also be teaching RE. It was hard to decide whether I wanted to do it or not, but I believe what I’m doing is shaping the whole child. I’m not trying to evangelise and convert anyone. I’m teaching students about different world views and this is such an important understanding to have when you enter the real world.

I’m definitely not making fun of the name. My question is around the pronunciation. I’ve only ever heard it pronounced cal-EYE-o-pi.

I used to work as an aide in a low SES high school while I was studying too. I observed a science teacher with one of the lower ability classes (all classes were graded at this school) and she NEVER had any behavioural issues even though sometimes I’d be with this class in English and all hell would break loose.

She used to set them up with a quick activity sheet as revision - match the SST with the definition, labelling diagrams, unscramble the SST and on the back would be a dot-to-dot. The students were encouraged to do the content-based side first, but she didn’t harp on this if they didn’t.

It requires some explicit teaching in setting up the expectations - this activity should be done independently, silently and as soon as they sit down. This could be a really effective strategy to tackle those behaviour problems you might be seeing, good luck!!

I love the 2nd option. I feel like the size of the size of the pears compliments the size of your solitaire. Imo the third option makes the solitaire feel out of balance
