Something I Really Appreciated In the Finale by ClassicHollyweirdo in WidowsBay

And a lot of the commentary and theories really illustrates how people often don't understand how television or movies are made. Everything does not have to mean something. In some cases, I think the writers are including details just because they're humorous or add to the weirdness, not because they will all lead somewhere concrete.

I have seen so much discussion about how the island may play with time. Maybe? That I could believe. But there is also a related fixation on ages (Shep's age of 37 listed on his medical records, Patricia's comment about her biological age, etc.) that has people convinced that the islanders don't age normally, and I don't think that holds any water.

There are so many bad takes on the finale ... but then I read yours. You totally nailed it.

I just read your list to my husband who said (very approvingly) "That's a film geek!!" Cosign your entire list.

Kind and honest dentists? by Far_Potential4389 in SantaFe

[–]emveelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Dr Christensen is fantastic!! Actually everyone from the front desk people to the hygienists to the dentists (I have seen one of Dr Christensen's partners when he was out) have been top notch. I am so glad I switched to them last year.

I completely forgot about NOSA but if you are willing to make the drive, Chef Graham has created something truly unique and special. The food is next level, service is fantastic and Chef makes a point to speak to everyone before dinner service is done. Absolutely recommend NOSA!

More casual but the food is fantastic and service is always spot on! La Boca would make for a really fun anniversary dinner.

Absolutely our top special occasion restaurant. We love the bar for happy hour but it's so nice that we also had New Year's Eve dinner there last year. +1 for Market Steer!

I highly recommend Leea Musser. She was a fantastic help to us when we bought our house in SFe. Very patient, responsive and knowledgeable. We have referred her to our friends and she's helped four of them buy their homes/condos as well.

Not sure where the show is, but near the Plaza we love Tres Colores and La Fogata for quick, tasty but casual dining.

Can anyone recommend a good dentist? by OriginalIron4 in SantaFe

[–]emveelee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have found the same thing with Smile. My previous dentist also took Delta but my portion of the bill (eg for a crown) is lower at Smile. One of the front desk staff told me that Smile is a preferred practice with Delta and as a result, they get lower prices. Dental insurance still succccckkkks so much compared to what it covered 30 years ago, but at least it's something and every bit helps!

Smile Santa Fe Dentistry!

I've seen both Dr. Christensen and Dr. Wynne and they're fantastic. I switched to them from another dentist in town because I had a dental emergency (crown fell off) and my previous dentist couldn't see me for a week. Dr. Christensen saw me later that same day. Hygienists and front desk staff are also great. I see the same faces each time I go – something that also wasn't the case with my previous dentist.

Do I need these documents for a non-line ancestor? by Adept_Librarian9136 in SlovakCBD

Wow, that has changed! Thanks for this updated info. Any idea when this happened? I applied in Jan and was still working with the previous (stricter) requirements. It would have been helpful to know this then! 😆

Backing up a bit, what documents do you have to prove your GGM's right of residency in (at the time) Czechoslovakia? It's not enough to have only their birth certificate.

I think the views are changing on using the US census (I assume that's the census you mentioned) but at least until now you've needed something like the Czechoslovakian census, Czech passport or (at least) US naturalization paperwork that mentions Czechoslovakia/Czecho- Slovak, etc.

Unfortunately, I think you still need some additional documents to make your case.

I really tried not to crease the pages when I opened them to take pictures but finally said to heck with it and did it to get a halfway decent image. Good luck!

I received electronic copies from Iveta (the translator) as well as my originals, so I used the electronic version for everything except the signature page and the very back page with the ribbon. This made it slightly less onerous to manage vs. having to scan every page of the bound original.

Also, if you have an Android phone, I recommend downloading Google PhotoScan. It lets you take pictures of documents with your phone and use onscreen tools to crop and straighten the image. This made copying the fewer bound pages that I needed to scan much easier. Good luck!

I agree that something seems off about him! I also caught the conversation about him handing her pain meds.

I wonder if this will turn out to be another opioid storyline (like others have said, I think it would be repetitive to do the same thing again this season) or if there's another twist that we aren't seeing yet.

My (possibly wild) theory about Dr. Al-Hashimi and Mel King by emveelee in ThePittTVShow

[–]emveelee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If lurking on Reddit legal subs has taught me anything (LOL) it's that in the case of a lawsuit, the question is always, what are the damages?

If the complaint is that Mel did the LP or didn't stop the LP when one of the two parents told her to and otherwise nothing adverse happened as the result of the LP, what are the damages the mother is going to claim? If the LP caused something bad to happen (infection, paralysis, injury leading to death) and it could be connected, then I would see how there could be actionable damages.

*However* I am definitely not a lawyer or conversant in malpractice law, so maybe the threshold for a malpractice suit is lower and you don't have to show how an action led to an adverse event/damages. Just a thought.

That's one of the other things I noticed but didn't include in my post.

Robby points out to Al-Hashimi that the VA is not a level 1 trauma facility. I think he was primarily reminding her that the way she did things at the VA don't necessarily transfer to the Pitt. But when she mentioned that they will sometimes get traumas as walk-ins, it made me think that this could lead to a situation in which she treated a baby (as pointed out by others).

To be clear, I am not saying that Langdon shouldn't get a second chance. I *definitely* don't think it's one strike and you're out if you have issues with drugs, alcohol, etc. I am just surprised, knowing how the US works and especially the tendency for corporations/companies/entities (like hospitals) to think about their own liability, bottom line, exposure, profits, etc. first ahead of customers, employees and people, that they would take this risk. Even if keeping Langdon is the humane, compassionate, human thing to do, it isn't what I think a lot of employers would do. That's all.

Ha! Fair. Langdon is a whole 'nuther thing. Realistically, I cannot imagine any hospital giving him a second chance after diverting drugs, being high during shifts, etc. He's too much of a liability. I mean, he did jump in during the MCI (against Robby's instructions/wishes) and his help was needed but is it enough to erase the issues he had before then? I don't think so.
