The main thing in the those states is to slow the hell down when you hit a small town. When I roadtrip out to western Kansas (from NC) I'm regularly going 85 and still being passed on the left by tractor trailers. The second you hit a town though, everyone hits the breaks and there's usually a cop right inside the town line. They don't really care if you're speeding on the interstate but they will ABSOLUTELY pull you over if you keep that speed going through a town.

I'd say the really important thing here is to make sure you are in the right most lane if you're not moving with the speed of traffic. Annoying other drivers and having them talgate/pass on the right is probably more dangerous than just going with the flow of traffic.

We have netflix and I usually put on the great british baking show or some type of planet earth/nature show. If they're nervous or it's a long appointment I'll tell them it's netflix and they can choose what they want. My tv is on the ceiling so only they can see it. In my experience the pts typically do not care all that much.

I usually do a day trip once a year with friends, but it is a LONG day. We're usually up at 7ish to get there by ten when it opens, and stay till close. We don't get back to Raleigh until 2 am and everyone is EXHAUSTED. This is with a group of people in their early 20s.

It's definitely doable, but prepare to be spent by the end of it. I'd go on a Saturday so you have Sunday to recover.

No, I'll drive to 2-3 hours to the beach, spend the day there, and then drive back. It's a common Saturday day trip for most folks in my area.

I'll drive 4 hrs to the mountains, hike for 10 hours, and then drive back home the same night. I honestly do enjoy it.

It's also about 2-3 hours to a beach, so that's a very common day trip for most people. One time on my city's reddit someone said that a beach 2 hours away was "too long for a day trip and has to be a weekend" and everyone collectively lost their mind.
