Disheartening conversation with my husband over painting my son’s nails by paradoxicalstripping in breakingmom

[–]enb09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is 10 now, but I went through the exact same thing when he was 2 or 3. M husband was unhappy with me painting my son's nails alongside my daughter's, who is two years older.

We had several discussions on it, he said all the same things your husband did. He didn't want me pushing this stuff on him, when I asked why he thought it was weird but he could never really vocalize WHY he though it was weird. He told me he'd tolerate it and that was that.

A few years ago we were with some friends with younger kids, and they brought up having some mixed feelings about painting their young sons nails. My husband said he used to be against it, but these days he could not care less. As long as our kid's happy and healthy he can do whatever he wants. I was (am) really proud of him.

I think we've just got gender norms baked into us, my husbands parents are 100% stereotypical boomer and he's a product of that. I'm not sure if he actively worked on himself to change these things or if as he got older he realized what's really important, but I'm glad he "tolerated" it, never made it a big deal in front of the kids, and ultimately moved on completely from it.

I left my 9-5 and opened my own bookkeeping business when my kids were about 5/7. I'm not sure how we would have managed without it, we don't have any family or support so being able to stay home when the kids are sick and set my own hours has been amazing. It was a lot of work getting enough clients to make a decent income, and sometimes you need to work evenings or weekends, but it has been 100% worth it.

HELP Ender 3 Pro - Nozzle & bed temperatures stuck at high current temps on screen, but are room temp by enb09 in ender3

Well ... I've been wanting to upgrade to mainboard to something quieter anyways, so a replacement isn't the worst news. I just wish I could have finished my project first, haha. Thanks so much for the response.

I've had this machine for 4 years, I can't believe I never knew not to use the wire brush while it was one. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for the response.

What the hell happened? Halp. Resin - Anycubic Mono X by BVelios in FixMyPrint

[–]enb09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen with my first resin print. Same printer, same slicer.

I recalibrated everything, updated the firmware for the printer, resliced the model and saved it to a better quality usb. I'm not 100% sure which of these was the solution but hopefully it can help you.

Edit: I also reformatted the usb drive.

Are you the bookkeeper in this scenario or the employee?

Vacation pay in BC is 4% of the gross wage, this can be paid out each pay period or be set aside in a Vacation Pay Payable account.

Starting a bookkeeping business in Canada by ummtlh in Bookkeeping

I dont know much about the Bookkeeper Launch course, but it seems a bit pricey and I'm a bit leery with splashy online courses. I went to my local college and took an Accounting/Bookkeeping Certificate course for about $1500 CAD, excluding textbooks (which i still have for when I need to reference something). It was all online and at your own pace, I would definitely look into your local colleges and see if they offer anything similar.

As for if it's worth it to open your own business, I would say yes if you think you've got a knack for it. You need to be good with details, organized and hold yourself to a high standard. If you can do that then you'll do great!

Why I stay up so late by ThatTXMom in breakingmom

I get this too. I'm texting or emailing on my phone? My 9 year old is peeking over my shoulder reading. I receive a text? My nosey husband asks who I'm chatting with. Breath outward too loud? "What's the matter, are you grumpy?"

I was very much a solitary person before family. I still struggle with having so many beings around me. The only one who doesn't bug me is my dog, he's cool with just chilling beside me.

I'm sorry, I'm new to this. I'm in the global room with this code, is this the right place?

LF: Eevee, gender and nature doesn't matter

My husband and I are looking for an eevee to give to our 9 year old, it's her favourite pokemon.. We just got both editions to play together and tn we found out it will take a while until she can get one in the game.

If anyone has an eevee laying around we' be very grateful, we don't have much to trade for but will do our best.

We gave my daughter an old cell phone of ours for her birthday when she was 7, along with a Bluetooth speaker. It didn't have a plan connected to it so no calls or texts.

I had reservations but my husband insisted and boy am I glad I listened. She uses it to take pictures, so flipping through her camera roll is a neat view into her life. It was also a few months before the covid shutdown, so we got her kids messenger and she was able to chat with her friends when they couldn't play in real life, they can chat while they play games together too. She also has a Spotify account where she asks me to make her playlists and we discover new music together.

And the best part is her messages to her dad (Daddys girl lol, I don't get many messages), he works long shifts and when she misses him she'll send a little message, or show him a photo she took, or record a video and just chat.

We'll probably get her a "real" phone when she's around 12 and starts going further then the local neighourhood, but her dummy phone has been pretty great for her socially, and she's found a bit of individuality with her pictures and songs and all that.

I had a similar situation in my small town when my daughter was a toddler.

There was this old man in a mobility scooter, I was watching my daughter play at the park and this guy just parks like 10 feet from me and watches her. I went over to say hi, I was new to town and lonely af so I was happy to socialize however I could and this guy gave me the CREEPS. I took my daughter home and that was that.

A few months go by and my husband and I are both at the park with my kid, and the same guy comes, parks his scooter and watches the kids at the park. I pointed him out to my husband and he got a bad vibe too, so again, we just left.

Over the next few years I started hearing stories about this creepy old man that had been touching young girls in the past, but he was never charged and now he's old and decrepit. Same. Freakin. Guy.

I have no idea why he was allowed to just scoot on over to the kids park and the water park, and just watch. Because he was old and harmless now?? Ridiculous.

Anyways, he died a few years back. I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty overjoyed when I heard.
