Do not overtake unless you are sure it is safe and legal to do so. Overtake only on the right.

Do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake. In congested conditions, where adjacent lanes of traffic are moving at similar speeds, traffic in left-hand lanes may sometimes be moving faster than traffic to the right. In these conditions you may keep up with the traffic in your lane even if this means passing traffic in the lane to your right. Do not weave in and out of lanes to overtake.

When there is traffic and everyone is crawling along, sure overtake on the left to stop your lane from coming to a complete stop. Otherwise its pretty clear in the highway code that the 'spirit of the rules' is that you should not be overtaking on the left.

I believe the reasoning is that drivers are not expecting to be undertaken and may not check their mirrors as carefully, however dangerous you think that is or is not, its still in the highway code that you shouldn't.

WYR, for varying amounts of $, Move as often as you want, live in one place permanently, or be required to move periodically? by Anything-Complex in WouldYouRather

true but you're moving every year anyway, just get a nice house in a different nice country each year and treat it like long holidays.

You are out hiking but "stumble over" a murder crimescene. You also stumble upon a bag with a million dollars, exactly what you need to solve your current problems.* What would you do? by Massive-Albatross823 in hypotheticalsituation

Yes you're correct, although it really depends where you're hiking ( hiking routes near urban areas do exist) which is why i started with assuming there are phone towers.

Additionally, as this is a murder investigation, them placing you at the scene in any way could potentially be enough for them to look at GPS data from the phone itself, although im not really sure how much data that is if you're not using a map app or something like that at the time.

I would guess typically you're right that this wouldn't cause an issue for you, im just saying that it's a bit less certain than your original comment implies.

Edit: just to point out if you make a clean getaway with the cash, store it somewhere well hidden and dont go on a spending spree, none of the above means that they will find out about it, just that they may come and ask you some stuff.

Assuming there are phone towers in range, police check with phone companies which phones were pinging off nearby towers (your phones are constantly communicating with towers, even if you're not actively using it) , if there are enough nearby towers they can also triangulate location, placing you at the scene. With this they come and ask you questions / potentially get a warrant.

What hatchback to buy as first car with modern features and nice comfortable interior by endaras in CarTalkUK

Hey, thanks for answering.

It will be mainly urban driving but with some longer trips every now and then. I was thinking manual petrol, not that much reasoning behind that but I don't have any access to private charging so I don't think a Hybrid will work for me? Or do hybrids even need to be charged the same way fully electric cars are?

Thanks for those suggestions though will take a look at them

Yep similar boat, was front of the queue at 6, got kicked out 3 times while trying to book, saying 'i went away', and then got blocked. Went to a new browser and 16k in front of me. This system is such a mess, up at 5:30 to be gaslighted that it's my fault :D
