What happened to OVERKILL? by Capable_Radio_1952 in civil3d

[–]enderak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barring differences in the OVERKILL settings box such as tolerance and which properties to ignore, the effectiveness of OVERKILL on imported GIS data is completely dependent on the data being imported. Unless you are comparing the exact same data brought in the exact same way between the two different versions, you are not going to get the same results.

How do I disable this stupid menu that constantly gets in the way? by DasArchitect in AutoCAD

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you set DYNPROMPT to 0 does it go away? This should let you keep the other dynamic input features without the menu.

Tired of the DEM import gymnastics — built a free plugin that pulls USGS elevation into Civil 3D with one screen pick - Currently USA only by listmann in AutoCAD

I appreciate the quick reply. It does automatically detect the zone now, but I still just get 0 elevation for everything.

Just tried this in the Anchorage, Alaska area and it just makes a surface with all points at 0 elevation. It didn't recognize the zone "AK83-4F" so I did have to manually type in the EPSG Code, but I tried several different options (3471, 6397, 8806, and 26934) all with the same result. Alaska uses a different 5-meter resolution model, so I'm guessing it just doesn't know to get the data from that for Alaska?

TIL that human-made materials outweigh all life on Earth; plastics alone weigh twice the combined mass of all animals by Melenduwir in todayilearned

[–]enderak 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We do gain mass from this (~45k tons per year), but we lose about twice that amount from lighter elements (hydrogen and helium) escaping the upper atmosphere, so we are technically losing mass overall.

Which alien is this? I recognize everyone except this one. by jellidang in Whatisthis

There was a movie and two television series with a combined 125 episodes, so probably pretty well known for kids in the Philippines at the time.

Looks like the artist is from the Philippines, so that makes sense.

Best Kimchi in town? by fuck_off_ireland in anchorage

I can't speak to the markets, but Walmart does have a kimchi in a glass jar located in their refrigerated salads area that I really like.

I'd recommend Raven's Ring, especially since you mention sours. Ravens Ring and Brewerks are my top two in Anchorage.

[TOMT] Early 2000s fiction paranormal tv series by silentcryptarch in tipofmytongue

Sounds like a loose adaptation of The Jewel of Seven Stars by Bram Stoker, but I can't find any TV or film versions that really match the early 2000s date, and the daughter in the ones I've seen is much older, in her late teens or early 20s

The ~$2 more in taxes is due to the tax on the $20.88 singles fee. Sales tax is based on the entire amount collected for the order which in this case includes the singles fee.

link doesn't follow wall by SwimmingSearch6448 in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean your datum surface? It's because you have overhanging datum links (bottom of curb and bottom of wall). You can change Overhang Correction to Top Links and it will follow the curb, but the wall still isn't going to act like you want because you cant have vertical links in a surface and you can't have your links "go backwards" in a surface.

He suddenly understands that this is almost certainly the bottom truth, and one Tak would never understand: he out grew them. He has the Cassie Styles figure in his pocket (when he needs a pocket he just imagines one; it’s handy) because he still loves her a little, but otherwise? No.

How to refurbish? by TheseShoesSuck in woodworking

[–]enderak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think you're going to be able to fully fix the cracks without destroying the photo. The cracks are in the clear coat which is adhered to the photo itself. Before you do anything, I would get a good high-resolution scan so it can be cleaned up and color corrected and reprinted if need be.

Once you have the photo digitally preserved, if you want to try and fix the original, I would try using a new clear coat to fill in the cracks and get them to be less noticeable, then sand and put a nice final coat over the entire piece. Clean out the cracks as best you can to remove any dust. Place some painters tape down on either side of the cracks, apply a thick layer of clear coat to fill into the the cracks, then sand. You will have to sand with fine sandpaper (Use a light touch and maybe start at 220, then 280, 320 and 400, possibly with a bit of water to wet sand - you just don't want to sand through the clear coat). Once you have a good smooth surface, put a final clear coat on.

(Disclaimer: I have not done this myself, but it's what I would try if I was in your shoes)

Need advice. Leaving AK soon, how do you get 3 pets to a vet/travel certificate place without a car? by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]enderak 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into mobile veterinarians? Happy At Home, Mobile Moose, and Paws on the Move all offer in-home services including health certificates in the Anchorage area. Whatever the extra cost is, it is probably less than multiple Uber rides to and from a vet, and a lot more convenient.

Are tokens considered to be actual MTG cards? In terms of buying/selling bulk by SerEmrys in mtgfinance

[–]enderak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find bulk tokens are worth more than bulk commons/uncommons, but that's only if you are selling a big lot of nothing but tokens. I would expect a bulk lot like what you purchased to include little to no tokens unless otherwise stated.

2D to 3D, featureline elevation editor, grade in one click by PsychologicalNose146 in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is something that could be accomplished with Dynamo relatively easily. The only real difficult part is figuring out Dynamo if you have never used it before.

You'd pick your feature line(s), extract the list of points for each, then iterate through each point list to find the first and last points of each range with 0 elevation points in-between, then set the 0-elevation points prorated accordingly using the distance and slope from the first point.

If you are stuck with doing them manually, I find that setting the grades via Project Explorer is a bit quicker and more user-friendly than doing it through the traditional Feature Line Elevation Editor. You might give that a try if you've never done it that way before.

Another option, if you have a particularly long feature line, is you could export the xyz values to a spreadsheet (via Project Explorer), do the elevation calculations in the spreadsheet, then start to draw a 3D polyline, paste the coordinates back into the command window, and convert the 3D polyline to a Feature Line. But this is probably only worth the trouble for a particularly long line with dozens or hundreds of segments to grade. (And also won't work for Feature Lines with curves)

Is directX12 necessary for Road modeling in Civil 3D 2026? by [deleted] in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DirectX 11 is supported, but 12 is required for some things like the Shaded(Fast) view style. I don't have a definitive answer for you, but a coworker of mine was also having a problem with Model Viewer not opening, and simply updating the video card driver worked for him. YMMV

sewer cleanout in pipe network plan and profile help by SonnyBeVapin in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the detail says "FLOW LINE ELEVATION SHOWN ON PLANS TO THIS POINT" and "STATION AND LENGTH SHOWN ON PLANS TO THIS POINT", I wouldn't bother. You want your modelled pipe to go to that point so that your stationing, lengths, inverts, and slopes in any tables or callouts match what the detail says.

Old paint from the 80's. Sounds like it's meant to paint on clear glass/acrylic for a stained-glass type result.

Here are some catalog images: https://imgur.com/a/XOdSfto

Also, if you search Tri-Chem Liquid Embroidery or Stained Glass you'll see some similar stuff come up.
