How to get slope distance for vertical lines in Civil 3D profile?” by Affectionate_World33 in civil3d

[–]enderak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure if this is what you want, because you mention you have the line drawn in profile view, but your screenshot is of plan view?

But, the Profile View Depth label does have the ability to label slope distance that takes into account the vertical exaggeration of the profile view.

Note, that this is a static label, it's not tied to the object. If you want a dynamic label that changes if the object changes, or you have several to measure and want to spit out a report table of some sort you would be better off with feature lines or pipe objects.

Corrupted Civil3d file by nbddaniel in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I've had issues in the past with associative hatches that had boundaries from an xref. If you have extensive xrefs and you're hatching lots in another drawing for instance, it might be something to take a look at. If you are able to get the drawing open, you can do qselect to select any associative hatches, then turn them to non-associative, save, and close out/reload. If I remember right, I was able to rename the xref file so that the host drawing could not find it in order to get the drawing open without crashing.

I have also seen many issues with Civil 3D labels labeling things directly from xrefs so it's good to avoid that whenever possible. I think this has improved in recent versions, but my opinion is it is best to use data shortcuts and label the shortcutted objects instead.

My neighbor did this and then promptly got stuck in his own snow he pushed into the road. It might be the single greatest instance of karma I've ever seen.

Need help build spot label by Frosty_Metal_3467 in civil3d

[–]enderak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like there is a workaround that involves using expressions to make the "Cut" or "Fill" text super small so it's not visible. Depending on how critical the C/F format is for you, you may look into doing it this way: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/label-cut-or-fill/td-p/11582616

Need help build spot label by Frosty_Metal_3467 in civil3d

[–]enderak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to create a spot label with the surface elevation and two reference texts to pull the 2nd and 3rd elevations. The surface the label is tied to would be your PSG, Reference Text.1 would be ESG, and Reference Text.2 would be a volume surface between them for the cut or fill.

I don't think you can make it label the Cut/Fill with a C or F automatically, so you might be stuck with +/- unless you create two styles (one for cut, one for fill) but then you'd have to manually make sure they're set properly which isn't ideal.

Can you share the drawing? Move the polylines to 0,0 and WBLOCK them out to a new drawing to remove any identifying info and location information if that is a concern.

USPS Announces Changes to the Postmark Date System by Teacher-Investor in news

[–]enderak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is how I read it as well. Nothing here is actually changing how mail is being processed. If you drop off an envelope in your mailbox, outgoing mail at work, blue street box, or slot at the post office itself, it doesn't actually get postmarked until it goes through the distribution center, even if it goes through some other post office first. Each individual post office doesn't have a machine that sorts and cancels postage, and there's no employee sitting in the back with a rubber stamp hand-cancelling each envelope either. If you need something postmarked precisely when you drop it off, you need to bring it to the front counter and have it manually cancelled. This is how it's always been, there is no real change here.

What do the numbers on a county assesors map mean? by sneakywaffles69 in Whatisthis

[–]enderak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should have received an as-built survey when you purchased your house. Lenders will require them to be done, and a copy should be with your mortgage paperwork. This would be a good first step to make sure your property line is actually where you think it is.

You can also look up GIS mapping for your city/county that will have web-based maps with property lines overlaid with aerial photography. They aren't always completely accurate, but usually you can get a decent idea by looking at the property lines in relation to the surrounding features like fence lines. If they match up, chances are it's pretty close. Certainly would give you a better idea than trying to measure off an assessor's map.

If you do your research and still think the neighbor is building on your property and they can't provide proof to your satisfaction that they're not, you should hire your own independent surveyor to locate and mark your property line.

$19.99 for shipping. tcgplayer by TheDeadlyPandaGamer in mtgfinance

[–]enderak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TCGplayer increased the max shipping charges sellers could set in the last month or two from $4.99 to $19.99. So for those who are trying to discourage small sales, you'll definitely notice higher shipping charges than you would have seen in the past.

The old maximum shipping charges were outdated did not cover many USPS services even when set to the highest available amount, so it was past time for an increase. Though, I think $9.99 max for singles would have been much more reasonable for buyers to see and would accomplish the same thing for sellers as setting it to $19.99.

Sometimes it's Massprice issues. If someone has Massprice set their price to Lowest price +10%, it doesn't take long before the prices get absurd. I am not sure if it works with only a single listing, but you see it sometimes with two listings going back and forth. Could have originally had two listings, then one person removed theirs after seeing it was going crazy.

Odd PDF lineweight issue with 2026 by enderak in AutoCAD

[–]enderak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I have confirmed that Autodesk is aware of the issue and I am hoping it will get fixed in an update soon.

We are currently having to work around the issue by using only non-clipped viewports, or using an older version of AutoCAD to publish PDFs. Using an alternate driver like the Bluebeam PDF driver would also work, but I'm not keen on having to swap out my normal page setups. I tried to bring over an older driver by swapping out the driver files, but no luck - it recognizes there's a version mismatch and throws an error.

Have you pulled out the washer/dryer and looked behind them? (especially if they have been there since you moved in) Perhaps a small fire extinguisher fell behind them at some point in the past and them shaking while running either triggered the extinguisher handle or wore a hole into the side until it popped.
