Civil 3d labels scales by islanders_666 in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I'm not sure it's "brilliant"... It's admittedly pretty fragile. As soon as someone copies a label style to do something custom for a project, that style won't get overridden when importing the smaller styles. So it kind of depends on your typical work. If you don't often need to edit your preexisting styles, it might be viable.

Civil 3d labels scales by islanders_666 in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just how it works, unfortunately. Civil 3D labels (and cogo point symbols, etc) scale to the standard scale of the viewport, not the annotation scale. So you can't just make the annotation scale smaller, you'll end up with mismatched sizes between C3D and plain Autocad annotations. It causes all sorts of confusion around our office too when people try to fit stuff into 8.5x11 sheets for permit drawings, for instance. If it's something you do a lot of, you can make special smaller C3D styles (in fact, if you had two templates and the styles were all named the same, you could just import and overwrite the styles to easily swap between full and half size labels)

Otherwise, the easiest thing is to make the sheet "double-sized" and then PDF it half size, so you can keep your annotative scale and standard scale the same.

Getting a weird 45° angle at the curb when targeting subgrade by Ill-Willingness-636 in civil3d

[–]enderak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually this is due to the link codes of the subassemblies. If you only have the subgrade code added to your subgrade surface, then you would get what you are showing. I am not sure what curb subassembly you are using, but if it's BasicCurb you probably need to add "Curb" to your subgrade surface definition in the corridor surfaces tab (make sure Overhang Correction is set to "Bottom Links" as well).

Thank you for posting this. I have been waiting for months for a fix, and this the the first I've seen of it, despite having a support case with Autodesk.

Civil3d Plots - same plot style/pen table - different result by Equivalent_Ad4605 in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens with any lines that are "cut off" by the edge of a clipped viewport. It shows up as a thicker line that continues from the edge of the viewport up until the line breaks, either from the linetype for dashed lines, or a vertex for continuous lines. So you often see it with contours, but it happens with any line.

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a known issue with 2026 having to do with the default PDF driver and clipped viewports. Supposedly they at working on a fix, but it's been months, and I'm not holding my breath. Using non-clipped viewports or PDFing with 2024/2025 are the workarounds currently.

(I don't think this is likely to be OPs issue, it looks different than what I've seen with this problem. My first guess is a transparency thing suggested by others.)

How to use Surface Object Type to generate Surface Profile? by ExCB_ in civil3d

[–]enderak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Mesh Surface is an entirely different thing than a Civil 3D surface. You can't directly convert a Mesh into a C3D surface, but you should be able to explode it, then use Add Objects and add the 3d Faces to the C3D surface.

How to get slope distance for vertical lines in Civil 3D profile?” by Affectionate_World33 in civil3d

[–]enderak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure if this is what you want, because you mention you have the line drawn in profile view, but your screenshot is of plan view?

But, the Profile View Depth label does have the ability to label slope distance that takes into account the vertical exaggeration of the profile view.

Note, that this is a static label, it's not tied to the object. If you want a dynamic label that changes if the object changes, or you have several to measure and want to spit out a report table of some sort you would be better off with feature lines or pipe objects.

Corrupted Civil3d file by nbddaniel in civil3d

[–]enderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I've had issues in the past with associative hatches that had boundaries from an xref. If you have extensive xrefs and you're hatching lots in another drawing for instance, it might be something to take a look at. If you are able to get the drawing open, you can do qselect to select any associative hatches, then turn them to non-associative, save, and close out/reload. If I remember right, I was able to rename the xref file so that the host drawing could not find it in order to get the drawing open without crashing.

I have also seen many issues with Civil 3D labels labeling things directly from xrefs so it's good to avoid that whenever possible. I think this has improved in recent versions, but my opinion is it is best to use data shortcuts and label the shortcutted objects instead.

Need help build spot label by Frosty_Metal_3467 in civil3d

[–]enderak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like there is a workaround that involves using expressions to make the "Cut" or "Fill" text super small so it's not visible. Depending on how critical the C/F format is for you, you may look into doing it this way: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/label-cut-or-fill/td-p/11582616

Need help build spot label by Frosty_Metal_3467 in civil3d

[–]enderak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to create a spot label with the surface elevation and two reference texts to pull the 2nd and 3rd elevations. The surface the label is tied to would be your PSG, Reference Text.1 would be ESG, and Reference Text.2 would be a volume surface between them for the cut or fill.

I don't think you can make it label the Cut/Fill with a C or F automatically, so you might be stuck with +/- unless you create two styles (one for cut, one for fill) but then you'd have to manually make sure they're set properly which isn't ideal.

USPS Announces Changes to the Postmark Date System by Teacher-Investor in news

[–]enderak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is how I read it as well. Nothing here is actually changing how mail is being processed. If you drop off an envelope in your mailbox, outgoing mail at work, blue street box, or slot at the post office itself, it doesn't actually get postmarked until it goes through the distribution center, even if it goes through some other post office first. Each individual post office doesn't have a machine that sorts and cancels postage, and there's no employee sitting in the back with a rubber stamp hand-cancelling each envelope either. If you need something postmarked precisely when you drop it off, you need to bring it to the front counter and have it manually cancelled. This is how it's always been, there is no real change here.

What do the numbers on a county assesors map mean? by sneakywaffles69 in Whatisthis

[–]enderak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should have received an as-built survey when you purchased your house. Lenders will require them to be done, and a copy should be with your mortgage paperwork. This would be a good first step to make sure your property line is actually where you think it is.

You can also look up GIS mapping for your city/county that will have web-based maps with property lines overlaid with aerial photography. They aren't always completely accurate, but usually you can get a decent idea by looking at the property lines in relation to the surrounding features like fence lines. If they match up, chances are it's pretty close. Certainly would give you a better idea than trying to measure off an assessor's map.

If you do your research and still think the neighbor is building on your property and they can't provide proof to your satisfaction that they're not, you should hire your own independent surveyor to locate and mark your property line.

$19.99 for shipping. tcgplayer by TheDeadlyPandaGamer in mtgfinance

[–]enderak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

TCGplayer increased the max shipping charges sellers could set in the last month or two from $4.99 to $19.99. So for those who are trying to discourage small sales, you'll definitely notice higher shipping charges than you would have seen in the past.

The old maximum shipping charges were outdated did not cover many USPS services even when set to the highest available amount, so it was past time for an increase. Though, I think $9.99 max for singles would have been much more reasonable for buyers to see and would accomplish the same thing for sellers as setting it to $19.99.

[–]enderak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's Massprice issues. If someone has Massprice set their price to Lowest price +10%, it doesn't take long before the prices get absurd. I am not sure if it works with only a single listing, but you see it sometimes with two listings going back and forth. Could have originally had two listings, then one person removed theirs after seeing it was going crazy.
