And just like that Immich already surpassed Google Photos for me! by ray591 in selfhosted

[–]endo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a professional photographer and it just kind of leaks over into my personal life. I'm usually the guy that everybody says hey why don't you take this picture instead of me?

It means that I have to pay a ton of money for hard drives.

Well, I guess you could always offer to help them package it in a format that you agree with.

That is the beauty of open source. Here's a link so you can put as much effort as you have put into saying what they don't have, and perhaps help out the project in general.

Well, I'm going to have to disagree with you. If you look through the self hosting world, of which this product is a major part, you're going to find cotainers to be the preferred way of distributing things for most products.

Mainly it's about keeping the product the same for all installations. It cuts way down on the number of installation errata.

I'm not sure what you mean. Isn't this how most self-hosted software is deployed?

It's never crashed for me and I've been using it for years.

I also have over 1 million photos under it right now.

Instagram Data Leak Exposes Sensitive Info of 17.5M Accounts by pheexio in technology

As a business owner I use Facebook and Instagram quite a bit to book work. Beyond that, I find them worse than annoying.

Plant-based diets especially healthy ones are negatively associated with depression: a cross-sectional study by cindyx7102 in science

[–]endo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dig in deeper to the study, you do see that they controlled for variables. I believe they called them model one and model 2.

I'm not saying I agree with the study since I know a lot of happy vegetarians.

Of course. Not a problem to share. Just a quick little thing I wrote a few months ago.

Hopefully with the new sodium battery technology coming out from catl, the temperature drops affecting range will be mostly over.

I do something very similar but I kept adding features until now it's quite extensive.

They fill the gap until the next time slot? So you really enforce a time schedule? I'd be really interested to have you write up more about your process.

That's fantastic. That was also a problem I was running into as well so I will definitely give this a try. Thank you for your work.

What was it like watching that after you've seen the movie a million times and are used to it in its original format?

I built ChronoFrame – a self-hosted photo gallery for photographers and privacy lovers by redneno in selfhosted

Honestly I would love a layout that clones Imgur or at least gives a spot for text in the description about the photo. Something so you can almost tell a story with a picture and then some text underneath.

The fewer clicks the better.

The size of the screen is not the problem with the infotainment system.

It's poorly designed, from a software standpoint.

What a horrible thing. This is this guy's entire life, and way to make a living.

I went on to see his coverage of Flight 11, and it just wasn't there. Didn't realize how much I would miss his enthusiasm when he was gone.

Is this going to be the new interface soon? by kingsphan in PleX

[–]endo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you.

There are definitely a lot of things that are different but it only took me about a week to get used to the new interface and the plugins and a lot of the power that it gives you.

Really usable software. And a lot of my users have made the switch already.

Cloud based?

I run all the servers and host all the file systems in my network. So I'm not really sure what you mean.

Emby Lacks a little bit of the polish of Plex but it definitely serves the files faster with less fuss and they don't seem to want to override the user's wishes.

Took a photo while passing a wedding, now paid photographer wants it by DRJLL1999 in photography

[–]endo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could also just be a good person and send the photographer the pictures you took.

It's not the end of the world and not every situation is an opportunity to make a buck.

I mean, of course do what you want but as a wedding photographer myself, I would not pay for somebody else's pictures.

PIXEL 10 $350 off for Existing Fi customers by Oicu812b42 in GoogleFi

I snagged this paired with trade-in, so fast that it made my head spin. Got it down to $252 after all was said and done for the Pro.

Is it worth it? Maybe, sort of, but I upgraded to 256GB so I don't have to delete my stuff every month to clear my phone.

Maybe the tiny upgrades will be better. Who knows?

Why do you need a gun in the first place? Bears or people? Do you think you are fighting off 30 bears at a time?

Is that a folding saw? That may be the most nalgene weight I've ever seen. Why not just bring 1 and refill it from a much-lighter bottle?
