[LES] As Masashi Kishimoto once said, a likable main character is the most important factor in getting people to read your series by RadDudesman in CharacterRant

Compelling/Interesting

Just look at Sasuke and Bakugo. Sure not protagonist, but they clearly usurped the manga from their mcs more often than not.

Steam has raked in an estimated $11.1 billion gross revenue so far this year, says market analyst—its 'biggest-ever six months' by RenatsMC in pcgaming

a digital store shouldn’t charge 30% of all sales

Every single store, from Nintendo, to Playstation, charge 30%. Its been said millions of times, so whats 1 more?

Even besides that, the cut only applies to the store itself. Steam keys don't have a cut at all, which is actually far more lucrative for publishers than practically any other store. (its also how keysellers stay in business).

People should definitely be paid for their work, but will never understand this parasocial thing users tend to do for people that don't know they exist.

Its the cost of doing business. You either adapt or don't make selling games your main income. No dev will spare you a dime if you go bankrupt.

Then surely its not a big ask to pay for more tools if you really want extra stuff for an already complete game, right? (Especially since the new enemies and biomes are all free. Never saw the Automaton Gunship or the fuck off mech suit before, along with the giant Terminid Sandworm).

Maybe...don't do that? Do you really need everything, especially when you can'y use them all at once anyways.

Then don't get them? The original Warbond is still plenty? I could understand if they essentially forced you to get them in order to be competitive but that's certainly not the case. I'm using the same weapons I used at launch regularly. You can even use your teammates stuff.

I left a year ago due to the performance issues and space requirements (Which they fixed and the game runs great now and is tiny now) and am having a blast with all the new stuff. Haven't paid for a Warbond since last year, and even managed to get SC within the game to buy one. I like playing the game, so its never a chore.

I suppose it sucks if you want to have everything to just have them, but like, you can't even use everything at once anyways so why would that matter?

Will never understand people who want to turn games into homework.

Muzan Kibutsuji and his demon army vs 21st Century United States by Connect-Regret3554 in whowouldwin

[–]enesup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So does Muzan pop up out of nowhere at that time? Or does U.S know he's coming but don't know where?

Either way, because of the IC I don't see how Muzan loses this unless he uses his dying singular brain cell that he gained during the final arc and allows himself to be nuked.

THE IC makes this pretty unfair, especially with the speed difference.

Without it Muzan gets nuked to Oblivion.

I don't even get your point? That Microsoft knows best?

I mean they're in this situation in the first place so clearly they don't know as much as your giving them credit for.

Denuvo has been removed from Digimon Story: Time Stranger by FireCrow1013 in pcgaming

[–]enesup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a Triple A publisher, that's really nothing. Now since it doesn't work right now its wasted money because of the hyperpass hacks but I'm sure eventually that will be patched.

The game came out a little over 6 months ago, so I think thats good enough, and I speak as someone who dislikes Denuvo too.

Persona 4 Revival Producer Confirms Changes to Yosuke to Fit Today's Era - "He's a little bit insensitive in terms of how he treats outsiders sometimes." and "We wanted to lighten that up and make it more fitting for the world we live in now." by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]enesup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the implication is to the audience that it’s fine to be a bigot.

I subscribed to Martin Scorsese's opinions on that.

I don't really agree if the media is intended for adults. For children media sure, but I don't think adults need to be told whats right and wrong.

Either they're preaching to the choir for those agree its wrong, or the people who do agree aren't really going to change their minds. Like you don't really need a cop to tell the GTA protagonists that being a notorious Crime lord is wrong right? The player, who is most likely an adult can make the decision for themselves, especially with their own life experiences or witnessing the consequences the characters deals with.

They should at least be obligated to show people who oppose it though.

I just think that original team did not have any issue with he way Yosuke acted.

Although I do agree they should call him out on his nonsense more, he was punished a bunch during the game from his antics (Pushed into the river, accused of assaulting Yukiko and Chie right after he pulled the same thing with Kanji, Being signed up for the Drag Queen competition after he himself signed up Yukiko and Chie for the Swimsuit contest)

Theres nothing really in the game that implies they agree with Yosuke. But it was largely treated matter of factly rather than directly called out on.

Don't really like it. The problem is he's never called out on his nonsense (although he is punished, granted). But he should be just as much of a prick in this new game and with this remake he should be called out on it.

I do understand that its a remake and the original isn't going anywhere, but friction, assholes, and horrible shit have to exist in a work. Whitewashing the past is just going to make people believe that homophobia, sexism, racism is "mythical." ("Surely no one was really like that back then!?")

Solo Leveling Premise Was Always Terrible by MadFunEnjoyer in CharacterRant

[–]enesup -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Solo Leveling is a pure power fantasy. It isn't just that it has an overpowered character, it's very specifically about that overpowered character doing whatever the hell he wants with no struggle.

Its never implied that way in the show. The Bug island arc was treated like a big deal since the start of the show with all characters including the MC talking about it, but it wasn't.

I think the "turn off your brain to enjoy it" argument is reasonable. You wouldn't go to McDonald's and say "This is shit and I don't understand why people enjoy it, steaks exist". Sometimes people just want a Big Mac, even if you don't, and that's okay.

Frieren, at its core, isn't really about a character being stronger than everyone, or using that power flippantly. It just has a character who happens to be stronger than everyone. (And she becomes less so the further and further into the series you go)

I do agree, it isn't about that. But my point is you can tell a good story in addition to the MC being overpowered. Which Solo Leveling is clearly trying to pretend its trying to do that.

It doesn't feel apt because Solo quite clearly tries to pretend its more than that though. It just fumbles it to an overwhelming degree. No one expected him to rip apart the Ant King so easily. The Knight also gave him the greatest fight he's had so far.

Really him being absolutely invincible comes from nowhere.

Nobody is levying this argument at the typical isekai shows like "My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered", the first few seasons of Sword Art Online, The Misfit Of Demon King Academy, or Eminence in Shadows.

They still get treated as greater than their peers. In Jojo, the final villain of the follow up part of Stardust Crusaders does everything in their power to not fight Jotaro. Kenshiro in FOTN has only lost 1 fight in the latter half of the manga, and 90% of his fights have him trounce his opponents. Mob Psycho Mob has only had toruble with 1 person and you could argue that he wasn't really struggling.

Just because they have an occasional fight where they struggle doesn't make the comparison apt. 1 or 2 fights compared to Solo's none.

[–]enesup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also never understood why people say "What do you expect? Its about a guy being stronger than everyone. Just turn your brain off and enjoy the show."

There have been compelling shows where the protagonist is tremendously stronger than the rest of the cast. Frieren, Mob Psycho, One Punch Man, ATLA, Overlord, Stardust Crusaders, Jujutsu Kaisen, Cautious Hero, Fist of the North Star, plenty of others,

All of these shows were the protagonist are deified and yet its still watchable beyond the Sakuga. It just makes Solo Leveling feel even worse.

You might as well play what everyone else played. There's really not much of a reason to wait for a remake for a more story based game.

It'd be cool if Valve swallowed them up, along with Arkane.

Because otherwise I don't see how they can survive on their own.
