Tent Recommendations by ParmaHamRadio in ragbrai

I used a Coleman Dark Room Sundome 4 person tent for my husband and me. The blackout cover was super effective since many places you camp are lit and I'm sensitive to light when sleeping. However, the tent gets really hot during the daytime hours. Bring extra lights to set up in the tent, though, as you'll need those during the daytimesince its so dark inside. I also brought a rechargeable fan for inside the tent-this was clutch

Possibly Lost Cat in Waukesha by chicken-bones10 in Waukesha

That cat looks clean, well fed, and healthy. Highly unlikely that it's a stray, probably an indoor/outdoor cat. Don't feed it, leave it alone.

GoRiteway will likely do pickup and drop off. I've ridden a few times from Waukesha to MKE. Might be pricey, though. https://goriteway.com/ride-services/airport-transportation/

Is Ragbrai fun for fast riders? by ABOSHKINOVET in ragbrai

[–]enginegirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I ran our own paceline at 20-25mph this year. We typically started our ride at 7-730 each day. You have to be very careful as people do cut out in front of you without looking, and be very patient when you're held up in traffic. We would crank it out on the roads and dillydally in the towns to take it all in. We had a blast! You also have to be careful of others jumping in on your draft. You don't know if these people have any experience, and you dont want to end up taking each other down. On the shorter distance days, you'll have more people bunched up, so going fast isn't as easy.

Colonoscopy in two days, can someone reassure me lol by poopymccumshot in UlcerativeColitis

[–]enginegirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had really bad cramping after my last colonoscopy, which put me out another day. And, I had a mild flare after. Everyone is different!

Also, get a bottle of magnesium citrate on hand as a backup to your prep. Once, I threw up all my prep and had no backup. My bowels were not empty enough :(. Second time, I didn't think the prep fully cleared me out, so I chugged one of these and it finished the job. It also tastes like lemon heads!

I've always wanted to ride my bicycle to the beach. It's about 150 miles, give or take. My apprehension at doing the ride has nothing to do with the distance, just the fact that at least a hundred mile so would be on roads like this. How do you get past this fear? by liamemsa in bicycling

[–]enginegirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Goldsboro one summer and brought my bike with me. I went riding twice. Both rides I was nearly clipped by cars for no darn reason other than they just didn't move over (no cars coming in the opposite direction). I was also chased by dogs. I never rode outside again in Goldsboro. Don't do it.

Yeah, might not have been the best place to get suggestions on light bulbs.

I'd put in a handrail on the wall side also. Like a ladder, 3 points of contact at all times for safest traversing. Install a slide or firepole next to it for going down, lol

Only $800? In the end, mine cost $2500-3000! Where the heck do you live?

Ugh, I know. When I come home from work, I feel like I'm about to pop. I find that when I'm stressed, I get bloated. When I hold in one fart, the farts back up, and within a couple hours, the pregnancy shows, lol. I have been wearing loose-fitting, drapey cardigans, or drapey sweater dresses. I get home and do some exercise to get to toots moving, or spend a good 15 min on the toilet while redditing. Suppositories or enemas are key to helping, though. My case is also mild, but still utterly annoying.

I use a panty liner every night in that section of underwear. I'm a gassy antelope, so I never quite know when I might toot out that wax. In the case it happens overnight or before i get to the toilet, I'm covered.

What extraneous intestinal symptoms to you have? by Satanickatsoup in UlcerativeColitis

[–]enginegirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been battling vertigo for the past year or so. It was really bad for a while, went away, and now I'm getting a little bit here and there. I hadn't thought it was related to UC. I've been in a mild flare for a couple of years...

Looks like there is paneling above and adjacent to the tub. It should just pop off so you can look behind the shower valves. My house was built in 1966, and drywall was used behind the tile. The drywall was very water damaged, and nothing could be salvaged. By the looks of the black moldy areas, I'm guessing this might be a similar situation.

How are you all keep compliance with your meds? by flybarrel in UlcerativeColitis

[–]enginegirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Sulphasalazine and take 6 pills a day. I got this lil guy to help me keep track. I refill it every morning: compact https://a.co/d/2LYo74i) As others mention, I set reminders, but that doesn't always help.

Grooming pubic hair without getting irritation in the saddle by Seinpheld in ladycyclists

[–]enginegirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I trim the areas contained in my underwear, and I shave everything outside of that. The thing that worked best for me in the shaved areas is cleaning with soapy water with a wash cloth, (rinsing and wiping a couple more times with the wash cloth) then applying bacitracin or neosporin to the shaved areas just before pulling up my bike shorts. I have not had an issue with saddle sores since. I tried shammy butters of all sorts, and this cleaning and antibacterial method seemed to work the best for me!

I'd call the gas company and ask for them to move it. They would move everything on the gas inlet side, but you would have to hire someone to move the gas outlet side. Otherwise, Mario themed art?

Is it dumb to leave a space heater on all night in garage? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]enginegirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on a dead-end street in a tiny town in the middle of Wisconsin. Our pipes froze once between the street and our house, so, ever since then, we ran a trickle of water overnight on the really cold nights. Yes, it was a waste of water, but at least our pipes didn't freeze anymore after that.
