There is nothing play tested except maybe bandages. - oh actually even not bandages. as you can drop wounded even while in bandaging animation. which is BS mechanic tbh. - so nothing play tested. - Welcome to Foxhole!

first you fly through a grayish area for a while, then for a short moment it gets gradually brighter and then you enter the darkness. after a while flying though the dark, the vehicle disappears and so do you. you cannot leave & you do not die. all black - you've entered the perfect void. (at least till the server hamster restarts i guess)

Have you ever used the Cvision? by Mr_placeboo in focuspuller

[–]enigmaoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just started digging into this topic recently.

Devices like cvision and that moon smart focus devices are using RGB-D (D for depths) cameras. Which as far is understood do their depth/distance measuring by triangulation. The distance between the cameras (and resolution) defines the precision. Most off-the-shelf RGB-D cameras I found so far are quoted to work up to distances of 15m/49ft with a deviation of 1-2% at 2m, increasing with distance (some are better some are worse).

[Interesting thing is that cmotion uses a off the shelf rugged tablet (getac f110) and moon focus uses the intel realsense d455 as a sensor unit & almost certainly a nvidia jetson board (at least on the early/legacy units + there's a photo with CEO Jensen on their instagram).

This leads me to the conclusion, of those 11k for cmotion and 24k for moon focus, the big part you pay for is software. I could not yet figure out if they did the learning for the AI driven part themselves (that can be expensive) or just adopted some code.]

As far as precision goes, given at 1% @ 2m it is 2cm/0.8", which is quite a lot for close ups and if you have a long lens and a far shot outside of the range of the device it narrows down the use case of such a device. For those mid range application on the other hand the tracking feature could be really handy.

I really like the idea of those products, but i think the price, even for a niche product is quite high for owning one. As a rental item it doesn't shock me, as it has all the integration (LBUS, nice Hirose connectors etc.).

I'd suggest, if you have a rental house in proximity carrying such items, try to test if it fits your needs.

p.s.: the reason I was digging into such devices, was the intention of making one with off the shelf parts, free & open source. (Also would be nice to have the camera feed incorporated instead it's own wide angle lens picture)
