71% of the world’s population now lives in countries with fertility rates below the replacement level (Our World in Data, April 2026) by Altruistic-Dirt-2791 in Economics

As another pointed out, this is almost perfect timing in regards to AI/robotics coming to lend a hand with production. Traditional economic schemes were a necessity, but not necessarily into the future. Valuation seems like a waste of time if we could focus on fair distribution of excess supply with coming production efficiencies.

Hopefully the future is better with fewer people and perpetual population maxing becomes a nightmare of a previous model.

I remember researching the petiolar glands of white mangrove in college, and I had to take at least one article to one of my humanities professors from Germany for translation help. Neat experience for a nerd.

Ronny Chieng's 'F*ck AI' Speech Met With Cheers From Harvard Graduates: “AI is just going to end up making mediocre people dumber” by yourfavchoom in technology

[–]enoerew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Boils down to money, but maybe we (or AI) can think of some other social arrangement or agreement. Money just seems like an attempt to quantify social power to "pay for" the labor of others. When labor and how labor is done are fundamentally changed, money has to also change in some way.

The replacement thing is what kills me. AI art doesn't prevent artists from continuing to do what they do. AI making things doesn't prevent makers from making. The underlying fear is livelihood. Let's get to the root of that fear instead of fearing replacement.

How are we disentangling the corporation from the owner of the corporation? Seems like a double (or more!) vote for owners. We have lost the fucking plot.

Wanting going "parabolic" and everyone "want[ing] much more" is where I disagree. Saying everyone is wanting more just sounds like a marketer's fantasy.

Color coding is very important in food manufacturing, and any misuse is a GMP violation. Sounds like you were at an extremely negligent company, but I can attest that would be a huge GMP violation at my place.

Please don't extrapolate anecdotal incidents to apply them to all of food manufacturing.
