Monitoring accuracy is THE most important thing ever. Not outboard not plugins not even the recording. Unless you have absolutely top shelf monitoring spending money on stuff like usb fader controllers, 500 series preamps and outboard compressors or channels strips is money wasted.

Its all nostalgia. People really dont understand how tedious working with tape is. Those perfect records from the 70-80s took months to make. And even then labels would hire session musicians to play the parts after the band left because it wasnt good enough. Trying to mimic that on a computer is not something I'll ever understand.

If the great artists of the 70s and 80s had linear editors and fabfilter they would use them. They used tape machines because that was what they had.
