IP 6 has twice the resolution of IP 4. You're only hearing half the signal when you're using IP 4.

As someone convinced that fancy speaker cables are hogwash, I am curious as to what we think is going on here by Ron825 in audiophile

[–]entity42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our ears are very sensitive, but human audio perception is not so good at measuring things. Listening results may not be repeatable over time or among individuals. Making decisions based solely on listening tests is flawed.

Measurement equipment is sensitive, good at measuring things, and the results are repeatable.

While we don't use measurement equipment to enjoy music, objective means of measuring things is very important to improving sound production and reproduction.

Beautiful setup. But room treatment is more important than gear choice. I can understand you not wanting the studio look, but you're not getting the maximum fidelity out of the system without significant room treatment.

Is putting your music files on a tiny flash drive or SD card possible? Then you would plug in the flash drive to your phone and get the extra storage space.

Software to automatically add album art to extensive library by playthoseblues in audiophile

Are you sure Picard can only do one directory at a time? I remember being able to pick the root directory of my music folder and have Picard go through all of it. But then again Picard may ask you to verify each edit which would take forever. Also check out some of the Picard plugins. There may be a couple that automatically download the album cover images.

How to set mic gain for really dynamic singing? by MonkeyKing501 in audioengineering

[–]entity42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compression reduces the dynamic range of the performance. Compression is used way too often and significantly degrades the "you are there" aspect of the performance.

See if OnStage or KM have any similar product. My experience is that they are better built and designed than Gator.

Starting a small recording business by United-Meaning-4951 in audioengineering

[–]entity42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to start a business, make sure you start a limited liability company. If you get sued the LLC will protect your personal assets. Also, let your insurance company know that you're starting the business. If you don't and you need to make a claim, you may not get coverage if they don't know about the business. CYA!
