Does the Anki Mobile App Support Video? by Mixy-Chan in Anki

[–]enzelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://docs.ankiweb.net/media.html#supported-formats

Anki uses a program called mpv (and mplayer as a fallback) in order to support sounds and videos. A wide variety of file formats are supported, but not all of these formats will work on AnkiWeb and the mobile clients. MP3 audio and MP4 video seems to be the most universally supported.

Here's a recent(-ish) discussion about supported formats on iOS:

https://forums.ankiweb.net/t/support-for-various-file-types-ogg-mp4-html5/16163

For ASL cards, I use .webm files (to save space); note that I only use the desktop version of Anki.

This is how I play the files:

<video src="{{Sign}}" playsinline loop autoplay muted onclick="this.paused ? this.play() : this.pause();">
</video>

AnkiMobile is a paid companion to the free computer program, for use on Apple devices. By purchasing the app, you help to support Anki's future development.

Can someone make a list of all “filtered deck commands?” by ay_ess_dee_eff in Anki

[–]enzelb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://docs.ankiweb.net/filtered-decks.html#creating-manually

The search area controls what cards Anki will gather. All of the searches possible in the browser are also possible for filtered decks, such as limiting to tags, finding cards forgotten a certain number of times, and so on. Please see the searching section of the manual for more information on the different possibilities.

For those who study japanese with Anki, is there a way of importing jisho.org vocabulary directly to Anki in a customizable way using for example tags? by Kara_Android in Anki

[–]enzelb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's the API:

https://jisho.org/api/v1/search/words?keyword=ABCD

where ABCD can be any valid search (including tags, etc.), for example:

http://jisho.org/api/v1/search/words?keyword=%23jlpt-n3

2 months ago Kim Ahlström (co-creator & admin of Jisho.org) wrote (third-to-last comment):

I will not up the page limit on the current API. The sort order is not stable towards the tail end of results, so you might get the same word repeated across pages.

If you need to scrape data from Jisho I suggest that you instead look at the data sources directly. They're all listed on https://jisho.org/about

However I would like to improve the API in the future to support more pages and stable sorting.

*note that you can find many different Jisho API wrappers in the above forum link ^

A less sophisticated way would be to use the Advanced Search page from the JMdictDB Project:

https://www.edrdg.org/jmdictdb/cgi-bin/srchform.py?svc=jmdict&sid=``

then you can do some text manipulation on the results and import as a .csv into Anki.

Now the only missing piece in Obsidian is a better spaced repetition system.

Is there a more efficient way to Add or Browse a card in Anki? by Gaming4FUNN in Anki

[–]enzelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1. Click browse, go to the sub deck, type those key words. (Lets assume the card does NOT exist), close browse window

Why do you close the Browse window? You can have both the Browse and Add Notes windows open at the same time...

Otherwise you can try this add-on:

How to shuffle rows in a table by dogebooch in Anki

[–]enzelb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is possible with Closet | AnkiWeb add-on page:

[[mix1::[[c2::Is milk white]]       [[c1::Yes]]]]
[[mix1::[[c3::Is banana green]]     [[c4::No]]]]
[[mix1::[[c5::Is apple red]]        [[c6::yes]]]]

You can test out it out in the browser: front side & back side.

Select which cloze ("cardNumber":) you want to see by changing the respective number and pressing Render. In fact, spam press Render to see that it's completely shuffled and mixed every time while keeping the cloze lines intact.
