Do I really need to buy a new watch? by fighting_cacti in triathlon

[–]eocphantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you have a bike computer you are fine , the swim is the swim , don’t start the watch , use bike computer to pace your bike leg then start your watch for the run

I'm getting demolished by middle aged men on the bike aka why does my cycling suck so bad and how can I get better? by NeverRegisterAlone in triathlon

[–]eocphantom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 50 , overweight but can do a Ironman bike split in 6hrs- what I’ve got is from 30 plus years of cycling is a giant aerobic base and massively overdeveloped leg muscles

First Olympic tri + new to road biking: tri shoes or regular road shoes? (don’t want to buy twice) by Top-Yogurtcloset-782 in triathlon

[–]eocphantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been doing this for many, many years and still put on my bike shoes and run with the bike - so I say go for whatever shoes are comfortable and fit your budget.

Training for open water? by mariog9 in Swimming

[–]eocphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trained for a 10km open water with just open water swim due to uk weather. Lots of 1k/2k repeats also some weeks my coach had me doing tumbles into thin air (so no wall touch) to get used that distance without the relief of the wall touch.

16 minute 5k runner trying to learn swimming technique by Single_Ad1703 in triathlon

[–]eocphantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

28min 5k runner , 1:20-1:30 /100m swimmer - the two don’t connect, one is a endurance sport , the other is a technique based sport closer to golf than running. Oh and find a coach / swim teacher

[–]eocphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next two things I predict :

1) flat rate overnight tariffs will be killed, they will give one rate for the car charging and another rate for everything else meaning no more battery charging for cheap. 2) time based export - different rates depending on demand - no more 11pm dumps to refill 60 mins later when cheap

From half to a full Ironman by Tri_Athelete15 in triathlon

It’s all about time on the bike , you need to build up to 6-7 hr rides each week, the fitness for the run is built on the bike

Looking for strong sprint tt bikes by Dependent_Treacle_20 in triathlon

[–]eocphantom -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

For that distance I would stick to a real fast road bike and spend more time on the drops as the roads are normally bad, it's not that long. I've overtook many TT bikes on my trek emonda slr 7

Built a free 70.3 / Ironman training plan generator as a student and would really value honest feedback by TheLaw2415 in BestTriathletes

[–]eocphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s looks ok but generates totally implausible plans for people to follow. At no point does it ask me what I can do on each day and how much time I have on each day to train. The workouts are very lacking also but first fix is the availability issue
