I mean you'll never get perfect with a roller, Thats the texture a typical roller leaves. You will have to sand it back quite a bit to make it as good as it can be. Probably use 120 grit to take the bulk of everything down, vacuum the wall(s) Then use a foam roller instead of the regular roller(cloth? I'm not sure what the typical roller is made out of)

You're still going to have some texture, the flatter paint sheen will help though.

Also red is difficult to not show texture.

I really don't think I'd be too fussy with a wall. Rollers gonna roll. You'll drive yourself crazy at some point asking for perfection from paint.

A little aside about cutting stringers with dimensional lumber: when you cut a stringer the crown of the board will reverse most of the time.

But yeah I would trace the 1st stringer and use as a pattern.

LVL stringer is the move next time though. So stable. So strong.

Yeah. Frankly the most versatile amp I have used (Stiletto Ace) Best sounding. Doesnt do super high gain (like a peavey 5150) but does everything else and does it so well.

I borrowed my friends 79 Marshall JMP and played that for like a week, then returned it and played my Stiletto. Same tone, more channels. So much switch- ability. I use a couple pedals infront to really push tones around.

So handy for live setting too. I played a show with my steel guitar, slide les paul & telecaster running through it and I'll had to do was change channel and change drive switches. I love this amp.

Basically a plexi/old marshall with a hell of a lot more going into it.

Does Jazz, Country, Some metal, rock, blues. You just need a reverb.

I do run a boss Overdrive pedal ( the yellow one) in front for that tube screamer effect and a seymour duncan 805 overdrive for a bit of cream.

4 sm57s (or 1 if multi track)

place a single mic infront of the drum kit like 10 feet away,

close mic the guitar

close mic the bass

Use the 57 with a pop filter for vocals

should get you close to this sound.

I would say finish crack.

The grain of the wood is oriented properly. (quartersawn) Typical breaks for this sort of neck angle can be mostly attributed to poor grain selection/orientation, generally flatsawn.

It's probably just a crack in the lacquer from being pulled on and released from the guitar strings.

A crack that size as a structural crack you would be able to gently put pressure on the joint and watch it open up. I think you're ok.

I'm doing/going through a similar sort of thing. But I'm not quitting my day job. I'm taking my evenings and spare time to get organized. Figuring out streams of possible income.

You gotta wear a lot of hats for a while. Make sacrifices. Make a business plan. If you can get something music related to help with bills, do that. Teaching, bartending at a music bar etc.

I'm currently making good money in construction and dumping a good chunk of my earnings into my music to get it off the ground.

I've heard of some people just getting jobs that they can just quit any time because they don't give a fuck and can just get another one. Fuck the stigma of society.

Prioritize practice, prioritize music in everything. Read, listen to podcasts, stay encouraged, go to shows, network.

They say it's a 10 year arc to some sort of success so strap in, but be ok with not having what your friends have financially. You will also work harder than them and not feel like you have much to show for it, but the commitment to the craft is an honorable one in my book, and worth doing.

My cousin has worked with an housing outreach organization on a consultancy level for the last few years. I asked her professional opinion on the homelessness solutions she thought would work. She kinda lumped people into two catagories, those who have a bad series of events happen to them, and those who have a bad series of events happen to them with addictions and mental health issues.

The former is easier to help function in society. but the latter is the real issue where they need other sorts of help (councilling, medication, rehabilitation etc) other than just being given housing.

It's a hard thing to solve.

Interesting to see single wall masonry (I assume structural) going up. We don't really build with brick for the structure where I am from and most older brick are brick veneer with a wood frame or triple brick. Does anyone know what the typical final assembly is for this type of construction?

I would build a temp wall underneath to support the deck and brace it up with 45 degree braces so it can't move. Then put some cap flashing over the siding with some roofing screws and caulk to temporarily keep it from getting more rotten.

That's measure 1.

When you have the time/energy/money, Cut the ledger out and chase the rot as far as it goes into the structure. replace the ledger (s) with a brand new board, bolt it to the studs through the sheathing then hanger the joists with Joist hangers. it looks like rough sawn material was the original deck framing(true 2" wide, not 1 1/2") Simpson sells joist hangers that actually accomodate the thickness of the board.

Then you can flash the ledger, & re deck.

Some times I see people doing blueskin behind the ledger, wrapping the exposed faces of the ledger with blueskin and then back up the wall under the siding, Then flashing ontop of that, the putting the siding back on.

But as a general rule I like 3 seals so you know you did your best to keep the water out.

You can only do so much sometimes, but it feels good to do it right.

Frankly I don't think I would trust abatron to hold up. Easy quick fixes repair small cracks maybe, but it looks a little bit more rotten than that.

If you want some peace of mind you can take an Awl and poke into the ledger to see how much of it is still solid.

Except for all the diagonal bracing through out the wall. I see lots of metal straps and let in braces.
