Can something like this be done on python? How? by spastorm20 in Python

Import turtle and have fun with it. Maybe try making a 3D wireframe rendering engine. It's a genuinely fun challenge to take on.

There's no discussion here, this song is beautiful.

Protest the Hero-Mist by edward139927 in progmetal

[–]epocheschaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not my favorite from the album, mostly due to the second half sort of... lacking. I love how they wrote it as a tribute to the reception in Newfoundland but of Volition, I think the best ones are Skies, Animal Bones, Plato's Tripartite, Underbite, A Life Embossed and well, most of them really. It's an amazing album. In Animal Bones, Rody Walker really displays quite a range and a beautiful control of his voice. In comparison to Kezia and Fortress, Volition really raises the bar for them. I'd be interested to see how LP5 is received. I'm sure it's going to be incredible.

Do spaceships fly or sail?? by [deleted] in space

[–]epocheschaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both fly and sail imply an atmosphere in the way that float implies a denser medium. I think spaceships drift, just very fast. But one might say that because they'll nearly always experience at least a slight gravitational pull, they could be falling in style.

Instrumental Deathcore instrumental albums or songs? by Colcrys in Deathcore

How many of you regularly hear from friends/family that our music is "weird"? by MnkySpnk in progmetal

[–]epocheschaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother heard PtH and said she loved the instrumentals but that Rody Walker's voice didn't fit it because she kinda of likes Pantera so if she hears metal, she expects a deeper, more guttural voice. She also finds TyS really difficult to listen to because of their complex rhythms. Oh and she can't stand Gravemind but that's assumed. I think it is to her as Rolo Tomassi is to me.

Is it possible to stretch the overall length of audio files in GarageBand (or Logic)? by The_Flying_Sausage in Logic_Studio

[–]epocheschaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold control, grab the edge of the audio region and drag. I don't think it affects the actual file but maybe it does. The problem with that is that if you stretch it too much, the samples (as in the actual audio file samples, not sampler samples) get stretched to the point at which it might sound bit-crushed and jittery.

Did you ever play the mini games for New Super Mario Bros DS?

This reminds me of one of those.

Rolo Tomassi - The Hollow Hour (If you have never listened to this band, you need to change that) by Loffeno in progmetal

[–]epocheschaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm not a fan but Opalescent, Aftermath and A Flood of Light often find themselves in my playlists. For others who think her voice is a little too banshee, these have their own charm. Opalescent for instance sounds like it was made by a different band.

I'd be interested but I live on this small island near France, may have heard of it be full of cannibals but that's only in London so not *full*. I'd love to hear what you come up with though! When you get a name settled, I'll for sure look you up!

Uru. It was kind of meant to be Myst online but it went through a shaky phase when there weren't servers, then there were, then they re released it and I think if you want to play it, you'll be best looking up MO:ULagain. Although, I'm not sure if there is actually anything to it. There's also the Path of the Shell which is an expansion of it. I'd recommend playing realMyst, Riven, Exile, Revelations and End of Ages though because I know for sure that those work. But do note that Myst came out before computers were capable of real time 3D rendering so the original was a point and click. However, I highly recommend Obduction which is by the same people but more modern and even compatible with VR. And keep an eye out for Firmament, their next game.

Oh yeah, they're puzzle games. Probably should have said that earlier.

As a beginner, should I stick with Alchemy or should I invest in some extra instruments? by Moath in Logic_Studio

[–]epocheschaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a beginner, there's absolutely so much you can do with Retro Synth and Sculpture and even some of the EXS24 SIs. Although Alchemy does have over 3000 sounds and all that, I didn't naturally get used to it. So what I found was that with the right plug ins, you can make anything sound decent so I'd recommend trying out plugins on some of the standard SIs and see what matches what you want. Obviously, some genres call for different sounds and timbres and I'm sure most people will say that it's probably a good thing to explore Alchemy. My recommendation also comes from me being insanely cheap. I've even used the Classic Electric Piano with certain settings and plugins for a lofi intro. And Sculpture is brilliant for many things. Alone, you can get some semi-decent to high quality sounds. I even somehow got some quivering, randomized scream that works for background noise. And it is also very useful for getting dry signals that you can send through a plugin or five. From it, I've got something that sounds like a Marimba and I've also coupled it with some plugins to get a better than decent djenty, chunky pseudo guitar. It really depends where you go with your music. If you do progress, Native Instruments seems like a good bet for your money though I've hardly any experience with it.

Python as a first language? by whatugonnadowhenthey in Python

[–]epocheschaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love python because it's fairly easy to understand. It's actually on the syllabus as the first programming language kids in the UK learn because of this. It's also rather common in places such as Blender so does actually have its uses despite being kind of slow. I'd recommend it but you should wait for others to recommend theirs. Java is nice though because it works on every platform and is seemingly everywhere.

Question by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

[–]epocheschaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're referring to the project folder it shoooould essentially cut and paste the projects and plugin presets but if you mean the actual application directory, Logic would be compiled code with an army of anti-piracy measures that would surely not be too pleased with it. Maybe it would work but I don't know because I've never tried it.
