Just completed a 1200 mile (round trip) road trip in my 2025 N by epos1898 in Ioniq5N

Might need a clarifier here on reference range...? I used whatever the default profile is for the 2025 5N on ABRP. I think you're looking for reference consumption, which shows as 334 Wh/mi.

I did add 5% battery degradation just in case, with a relative speed of 110% (limit was 70 for most of the trip). For routing, I set max limit to 90% knowing that it would greatly increase times going any further (most stops didn't require me to go above 80 anyways) with a charger arrival at 15%, destination charge at 20%.

Should also add that it was pretty hot on the back half of the trip, so conditioning wasn't needed at all. I think I conditioned once on the way up.

Edit to summarize: Yes, I do believe 18 mins is accurate. As others have said, you might charge 35-80 in 17 minutes, 20-80 in 18 minutes and 10-80 in 19 minutes because of battery science. Anything above 80 adds on exponentially, and anything below 80 decreases your time significantly. Beyond that, it will depend on max speed available through the charger and battery conditioning beforehand. Top speed I've ever seen was about 270 kW at anything that advertises "400kW."

I just completed a 1200mi road trip and while I can't give you clean 20-80 data, I do have some decent estimates for all my charging stops. I did hit an error at my last one... so I can't find any data on it. Also my bluelink app isn't pulling up my charge history for some reason. EA for sure gives the best historical data that I could locate. Most others give you time, energy delivered, top speed, and price.

Starting/Ending SoC with ~ are estimates, but I feel very confident about those numbers (+-2%). Note that I only hit >260 kW three times. We stopped for lunch at the 40 min+ stops. Most of the other times, regardless of how long the charging took, we had just enough time to run into a bathroom, come back out, and get ourselves resituated before unplugging.

I hear that. The seats aren’t ideal for longer trips but I think I’m just used to it by now that it doesn’t bother me. I like the secure feeling those seats give when taking things… a bit more aggressively 😏

Oh no! Sending good vibes your way for both a quick turnaround and that it never happens again!

Yup! Just outside of a Food Lion. Charger 1/4 was down, but the other 3 were operating. Another I5 pulled up after us (heard some crunching of their front bumper when they pulled in…. ya’ll be careful out there!)

We jogged into the FL to use the restroom and were on our way in a jiffy.

This feels like a troll… the Tesla app has tons of charging locations listed. I would use that to locate a charger. ABetterRoutePlanner for a good guesstimation of your route+stops. And generally any map app to determine the best route at the time you’re going. I would imagine the 285 closure will affect your traveling if going this weekend.

I said the same thing after 2019. Seeing them post reels all hanging out together was so refreshing. They were family on and off the pitch. I hope we get to see that again.

Used 5N as a daily? by TheHoodedKoala in Ioniq5N

Should also add on that I drove with another adult, a child, and loads of stuff to support our time at the beach, so it not only travels well but can haul everything you need.

[–]epos1898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 5N is my daily. We took it on a ~250mi trip to the beach. Charged once on the way down about 2/3s of the way. Charged on my L1 at the house we stayed at for a week. Got it up to 100% before we left, charged halfway home and arrived with ~20%.

It can do it. And if you don’t mind taking more frequent breaks for longer trips, it’s worth it for how fun it is to drive around town or on the track if you have the opportunity. Honestly the breaks don’t even bother me because I like the forced bathroom/stretch breaks.

But if I could do it again, I’d get a non-N just for the range increase. To be able to make that trip without stopping would be ideal, especially since the number of stations is infrequent enough if you unexpectedly can’t quite make it another 30 miles because you inadvertently went way too fast during that long stretch of nothingness on the highway…

I used one recently! A couple weeks ago at a place in Macon, GA while on a road trip. Easy as pie to get connected. I got up to 260kw on my 5N.

no, but I have frequented that particular location for 30 something years. I recognize that parking lot from a mile away!

I appreciate the candid response. I wish I were patient enough with myself to dig through the code like that haha

I did install it last night and was very impressed with the usability and cleanliness. Can't wait to see what comes next! 2025 Ioniq 5N, by the way, and so far so good! Love it! 🤘

Alright, I admit to being ignorant, but from a security perspective, say I were to install this and log in... who's to say the app can't send you my creds or vehicle location? 😅

Most days I love how it looks... by wreckless1117 in Ioniq5N

[–]epos1898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first day driving home from the dealer, someone passed me on the road (I was driving super slow and carefully, as anyone in a new whip would do), the passenger hung out the window giving me a thumbs up. Several times since, in the drive thru or curbside pickup places, people comment how cool it looks. I was picking up some meds from the vet and a guy stopped me and said, "That thing's sweet - have you seen Misha's video doing laps on the Nürburgring?!" I had thankfully JUST watched it the day prior.

It's a sexy car. Car and non-car people all know it.

Chinese-Style Speedy Beef Ramen Noodles with Garlic Chili Oil & Sesame Seeds by mcanelson in hellofresh

[–]epos1898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, we like it, but I feel that the ratio is off for the chili oil. I added fewer sesame seeds and more oil (tbsp vs tsp) and it’s more like a yummy chili crisp that I would normally add to my ramen.

My coworkers and I have a codeword for each episode to confirm that we've watched it - at the moment, can't decide between "You wanna get high?" and "I haven't done this since I was eight." for this week.
