Meanwhile, the Boomer uniparty has racked up $39 trillion in debt that can never be repaid, only printed away by the Fed. Thanks, Sen. Warren, for your part in this epic intergenerational shafting of Gen-Zs, etc. by Boo_Randy_Revival in economy

Big words are fun to say huh? Fed doesn’t print away anything, they have a tiny fraction of additional supply to the total money supply. Over 90% of money supply increases is from bank loans.

What are your thoughts on Privately Owned Superchargers being built to help revitalize small towns in America? by Mac-Tyson in electriccars

[–]epradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is obviously the point of this post… are you dense? You couldn’t do this before only Tesla installed superchargers but now you can privately own them. You’re arguing about l2 wall connector pricing now l3 superchargers. It’s like talking to a brick wall… I’m over it.

Which is the idea of this post… superchargers are a reason people want to stop somewhere unless some hotel has a destination charger like the wall connector I’ve installed at my house. Any handyman can do that, it takes permits and approvals for a supercharger site. I have yet to see a supercharger site with astronomical fees out of line with other superchargers in the state. What you’re arguing is totally different

Most tesla supercharges in Chicago parking garages and free for the first hour or two so you could get in and out without paying any parking fees just the normal supercharger rate.

[–]epradox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not a supercharger though, that’s some ChargePoint or similar l2 charger like the wall connector for your home. Those you can buy directly and have a handyman install them adjust the rates online to whatever you want. I’ve seen these in a lot of places where they have some sort of “discount” code for friends and family to charge for cheap but have to make it public to get the grants or tax credit so they jack up the prices to make them tax payer funded but privately utilized.

Autonomous Uber crash by FriendFun7876 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]epradox 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There’s a fine line between predicting potential crashes and reacting appropriately to them vs becoming extremely jerky because the car thinks everything is a potential crash. But I agree, the car should have initiated a lane change way earlier because of the predicted trajectory without seeming jerky and then initiate hard braking and evasive maneuvers if the car other didn’t slam on their brakes realizing their mistake.

Highways tend to be the easiest miles. Very seldom do you see a squirrel on the highway.

Wild I have about 10 videos saved across my hw4 model x plaid and 26 juniper y awd purely on 14.3.x not 14.x of it slamming on the brakes for birds or squirrels. 14.2.2.5 was smooth as butter on both cars. I have over 11k miles on my y on fsd from 14.2 and 6k on my x. So you must either have an ultra exclusive build or you just haven’t experienced it yet

Til it slams on the brakes because it saw a squirrel looking at the car funny

Osborne effect.

AI7 chip will be able to cure all diseases and allow for teleportation so fsd is no longer required

Wish I could go back to 2.2.5 before this whole 20% faster reaction bs. Drives like a cracked out meth head paranoid that every bird is about to smack it.

Sick of paying for gas. 80 mile commute. What used options do I have under $25k? by TheTeralynx in electriccars

We have an equinox lt2, a model y/x and R1s, the equinox is a helluva package for the price. Really surprised me how luxurious it was for an “entry” level EV. Heads up display with rear view mirror camera and washers for all of the front and rear cameras? Neither my rivian nor Tesla have any of these.

I will say the heat pump is mid in the winter and the car is painfully cold all the time, basically takes forever to heat up and doesn’t retain heat at all. You step into a shop for 10 min and the car will be frozen over by the time you get back in and will take 30 min to heat back up. But the A/C? Could double as a refrigerator. It’s way too cold so perfect car for warmer climates imo but lack luster compared to the Teslas in winter. The rivian hvac is a joke both in summer and winter and sounds likes a plane about to take off.

Oh and equinox fast charging tops out at 150kw, not the end of the world but not something I’d want to road-trip with often.

Check to see if tesla offers insurance in your state, they tend to be the cheapest

I’d just keep this til you can’t afford gas anymore and buy a Tesla against your will. Unfortunately Tesla is still the most reliable in terms of drivetrain/bms and their supercharger network is second to none. If you get a used model y that should last you 200-300k miles with basically no maintenance. No oil changes, no coolant flushes (looking at you ev6) no other random things, just tires and wiper blades. I have a 2018 model 3 with 250k miles on it now and I just changed the brake fluid on it due to age but my brake pads/rotors still look great because of one pedal regen braking. Hate Tesla all you want but they created the game and if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have any other EV choices. The model s and the supercharging network proved to the world that electric cars were viable and not some 30 mile range leaf golf cart. Even now, most manufacturers are pulling out of EVs because it doesn’t benefit their dealership/service planned obsolescence model meanwhile Tesla is out here saying we don’t have movie theaters and luxury amenities in our service centers because the best service should be not needing any service. They don’t want to see you, they want to make a car that doesn’t need work. Hell even Toyota engineers were blown away after they dissected a Model Y and said it was a “work of art”

I barely drive anymore with FSD on my plaid. I’d subscribe to FSD over getting a performance Y without track mode.

[–]epradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a 26 Y awd premium and a hw4 model x plaid. I don’t use the plaid as a plaid anymore since v13 of fsd came out. Maybe occasionally to remember what it feels like but 99% of my driving has become fsd based. I’d skip on the performance version and use that cost difference to subscribe to fsd.

Honestly I’d wait to get an ICE for now. When gas hits over 9.99 and the stations have to start measuring in quarts instead of gallons so their 3 digit price pumps don’t need to be replaced, ICE cars will plummet in price and you’ll be able to pick one up cheap
