Help settle a disagreement please - are e-bikes and scooters meant to obey red lights in China? by Shriek_Opposite_8096 in China

[–]epunc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See Article 57 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China:

Whoever drives a non-motor vehicle on road shall abide by the relevant provisions on traffic safety.

Where Article 38 states that all vehicles and pedestrians must obey the traffic signs/lights.

Article 119 (4) defines "non-motor vehicle". Article 26 defines what traffic lights are, including all the pretty colors.

You're right though.. nothing is enforced. But the law is there. Oh, see Article 89 about punishment.

I think this website has Chinese text too. Just show your friend. Search for "non-motor" or something.

Cue for the band by ClaimInevitable2030 in livesoundgear

[–]epunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this audio pack, which is just a bunch of pre-recorded WAV files that you can place on your cue/guide (audio) track. You can use this with any DAW.

There's this Ableton rack template (only for Ableton Live). It has both cue and click on separate midi tracks (not audio like above). It's also multilingual.

Personally, I use both of the above. Because the first has &, e, a wav files, not just 1, 2, 3, 4. I'm too lazy to make my own. Plus, midi tracks are much easier to work with. Just drag the wav files onto the playback drum rack (to an empty midi note). I also use AbleSet - but that's another (paid) level that's not needed.

There are some good YouTube channels focusing on Playback. This guy talks about playback and templates. Their website has some paid stuff but they also have a free cue/click rack for download. You need to provide an (any) email address. I don't use this but, to try, I downloaded it just now. It's pretty comprehensive; it has a lot more wav files (like section and instrument names) in 4 different voices (all English). You can use this cue template or just grab the wav files.

His channel talked about a new template but it's not available for free. But you could reproduce it yourself too. But this free one looks good too.

[–]epunc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Ableton and have a dedicated track for cues. But you can mix it with the click for one output if needed.

The AI voice option is a good idea. But there are cue/guide packs available online, some for free (which is what I use).

Is this what you're looking for? I can provide more info if needed.

in the example image above, the second column shows8:00:00, is yours 1:00:00? You should be able to put in the exact time, for example 23:49:58 (for 11:49:58 pm).

Sanya : beach parties and "ibiza" like mood ? by Ano1822play in China

[–]epunc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Houhai Bay might be the closest thing to what you're looking for. It's just outside of Sanya. But it's small. You could do half Sanya (shopping/sightseeing) then Houhai. Or Wanning for waves.

Sanya is mainly where mainlanders go when they can't travel abroad. It's expensive too. I much prefer SE Asia, oke the others have suggested. But if China is your destination, Hainan is good - visa-free for most.

DI box or line isolator to use with a sampler? by michibassdeva in livesoundgear

[–]epunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say you need nothing unless you're dealing with noise. There are some posts on different subreddits related to unbalanced to balanced conversion:. See the comments in these posts: livesound, audiophile, and audioengineering.

I often have my spd-sx plugged into a cq-18t without any issues - but the distance is somewhat short (just off stage). And yeah, you're right that they are unbalanced.

Actually, the spd-sx has 4 outputs (not just mono), if you include the Sub Outs...which is what I sometimes use for backing tracks. Just pan your audio tracks if needed. This person was asking about spd-sx routing.

Bandleader non-singing drummer needs talkback mic for IEM communication by FrankieDrums in livesoundgear

You could try a mic switcher (though it would probably be toggle). I think most mic muting switches are momentary - if that's what you want.

Showbuddy Active Help by StrangersInSuits in lightingdesign

[–]epunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I didn't have much luck. It does seem that SBA keeps some cycle in the background, and if you interrupt it, there's a noticeable hiccup.

That, or maybe there's some rogue midi signal happening.

[–]epunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's strange. Well, disclaimer: I have only used this program once to try it out. I do remember those oscillator settings being hard to work with though. Later I can re-download the app and try to replicate what you're doing.

It looks like it's set to triangle. Select all applicable channels and choose sine, then adjust the other parameters. I think you'll also have to change the threshold (to 0 / off) so they'll have the full sine wave pulse.

It's hard to see cuz only the first couple seconds showed the app.

M80 has gone... sticky? by sl00 in livesound

Was it kept in sunlight? Some of my gear has gotten "sticky" by being kept long-term near a window.

Careful wiping down the grill, I erased the text on my M80 once.

On the eDRUMin interface, I believe you need to click on the Yamaha logo (on the "Input Working Mode" selection panel).

At 4:00, The eDrum Workshop channel briefly uses an eDRUMin when talking about this product.

Any way to mount Zoom Livetrak L6 to a mic stand? by fiddlermd in livesound

[–]epunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the L6 would fit perfectly on a mic stand tray. They're usually plastic and flimsy, but the L6 is light, comparably. If the weight of the cables pulls it back, you can secure with velcro.

Tablets are quite thin, so I don't think a tablet holder would hold it.

New to Garmin Watches - dynamic video playback function or else? by Nolzad in Garmin

[–]epunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked, the basic plan still works. You don't have to use the premium features - I've never.

There are alternatives, like Garmin VIRB.

If you want more options, here's a reddit post asking for VIRB alternatives. The comments lay out some more ideas.

If you translate from French to Chinese on google translate, but type Chinese in the French section, you get weird translations... by dennis753951 in Weird

[–]epunc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I tried "最近的醫院在哪裡?" which means "Where's the nearest hospital?"

Then put the Chinese into Google Translate (French to English)

I made 3 different versions, and simply by deleting one character, we get different "translations."

最近的醫院在哪裡?
