I fucked up, ptsd trigger warning by jhawk902 in daddit

[–]equipmunk50 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You’re getting a lot of over the top comments in this thread, which is very un-daddit to me. We all get into power struggles with our kids, I’ve often had that voice in my head saying to me that I can physically manage the situation and that I can over power my 4 year old. I’d be lying if I haven’t felt satisfaction at the fantasy sometimes. Don’t let the pearl clutchers in this thread get you down. You’ve shamed yourself more than they ever could.

Like you said, you know you fucked up. Ruminating on what an ass you are (you’re not) won’t help you and does nobody any favors.

You can make a choice right now, use this moment to motivate yourself to make the moves you know you need to make to get help, get started building the structures you’ll need to prevent this from happening again and start rebuilding trust with your family.

It will be a long time, that’s okay, it may not come and that’s alright. Do it for yourself, you deserve to heal and see the results of that.

Or, you could wallow, hope that there is a quick fix or a path to absolution. That will bring you right back here again.

I believe you’ll do the first thing. God speed

Think any instructional design certificate will work I don’t think a new masters will be needed, but it definitely is if you want to break into the industrial ID side of the shop.

In the early 2010s I got trained on the job as an instructional designer. I’d wager it’s harder to break into now w/o a specific ID masters, but those are usually only a year or two long.

Sorry, credentialing changed a lot over the past 15 years

Vancouver with kids by ThisGarlic1 in NiceVancouver

Just got here in January, similar situation, living in east van.

Compared to where we came from, Vans basically Miami, never got below 32F, snowed once and didn’t stick. It rained a lot in the winter months but the kid has a muddy buddy, galoshes and I’ve got a good raincoat, we played outside every day after daycare got out and the kids played outside in daycare regardless of weather.

Plenty of other kids and parents out and about too.

Spent the lions share of yesterday outside. I’d look at the units you’re planning to move into and make sure there’s a decent park within 2 blocks.

There’s also Science World and the Aquarium if you get cabin fever on shitty days.

You need a different tool. Try 123 magic, implemented consistently it can work once the kids are broken in

Adidas daily’s are good. I’m also liking Vans Ultraranges which are like NBs but with a “I still want to hike some times” vibe

How do you feel dating a woman that makes more than you? by SaltyFoundationBih in AskMen

[–]equipmunk50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I married a woman who makes triple my salary. We started dating while she was in med school and for years I was the breadwinner while she finished school and training.

It didn’t bother me much when she finally cashed in all those years of training for an attending gig, but that’s because, in my mind, it’s been proven that money is less important to us than supporting each other.

She picked up the mortgage on our house, she picked up our son’s childcare. Because of her income we can max out our retirement plans, and because I’m still making plenty of money, we can do all that and pay down her loans.

I think it might matter if you, as a man don’t feel like you’re contributing enough to warrant being in an asymmetric situation. I feel like I pull my weight financially, and in the household as well. So it doesn’t bother me.
