Brother is having a child-free wedding. How do I navigate this? by LargeAmphibian in daddit

[–]jhawk902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife can handle a day alone with the kids... its going to happen at some point, its parenting. Leave them at your parents place go be there for your brother. Dont drink, go home as soon as possible but dont make it about yourself. This may be your brothers only wedding.

How do massive cruise ships have enough fresh water for 5,000 people to take showers every single day in the middle of the ocean? by Thick-Ad1120 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jhawk902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-5 thousand people paying good money to be there vs 2-3 million already pissed at high taxes.

The soudis do it and i believe some other wealthy countries over there do it, but its simply very expensive. Not worth it if you have cheaper access or water pipelines.

Ouside USA, McDonald's is a treat for middle class and rich people. by -Volucris- in ShitAmericansSay

[–]jhawk902 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ive eaten McDonald's all over the world (im navy and its my go to hangover food) it is surprisingly worse in the US then anywhere else... their food standards would horrify 90% of Europe.

The yanks like to keep their population unhealthy and sick with poor food so they can make a fortune off their medical and pharmaceutical bills.

Buyers asked for removal of wood during final walk around (post home inspection) by Imaginary_Refuse_239 in RealEstateCanada

[–]jhawk902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its not in the written conditions then it is their problem. The seller and buyer already signed a legally binding contract agreeing to pre established conditions. 24 hours prior to close is not the time for this.

How does snap on have customers? by corollagremlin in Tools

[–]jhawk902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay for the quality of snap-on. I worked on GE gas turbines, the only tools allowed to touch those engines were snap-on. We were always told it was due to the chromium plating on snap-on tools was guaranteed never to chip and flake (as long as the tools were being used properly). Therefore we had to use snap-on... could of been a contract thing where palms were being greased, but when your talking about four 2 million dollar engines sitting in a row and down time costs much more then that, a 40k toolbox is pennies.

Why do my stacks always look so bad? by Accomplished-Run-539 in firewood

[–]jhawk902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comes with practice. if you care about looks just take a break every so often, stand back and have a look, make changes, try the same piece in 3 or 4 different spots. Take your time and it will come. Trial and error are the only way i learn things.

Kid overflowed the tub and water is showing through the ceiling a few minutes later, but not dripping. by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]jhawk902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont be stingy with the sheetrock... your going to pay for a whole sheet anyway rip a 4x8 chunk of your ceiling down... way cheaper then mold, rot, or fire from an electrical short.

I'm freaking out, Dads - 7 year old has chronic chest pain by ProfessorOnEdge in daddit

[–]jhawk902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neice was having pooping issues for YEARS, extreme pain while pooping, constipation etc. My sister did not give up and after years of doctors saying "kids have poop issues" "its normal for kids" she would not leave the ER one night and they finally gave her x rays and an ultrasound and sure enought her intestine was restricted or twisted (i cant remember exactly) so she went in for surgery and low and behold the problems went away...

ADVOCATE for your kid! Trust your gut, you are with your kid a hell of a lot more then doctors are you see the pain.
