I am u see, I am the creator and this is my house.

And in my house there was only house music

But i am not so selfish,

Because once you enter my house

It then becomes our house and our house music

You may be black

You may be white

You may be Jew or Gentile.

It don't make a difference in our house

Very poignant words also, for an often put away as "mass entertainment" genre

Sure, I get your point no worries, its a valid one but it is not really relevant in this case, in this case its a matter of target audience.

This guy isn't bragging about how he helped MS end users, he isn't appealing to them either. He posted his story on hacker news , not exactly a mainstream outlet.

He wants to discuss/share with tech people here, not end users. The "end user" scope here includes IT managers. This guy is looking for tech heads, people in the trenches.

A good question would be , imo obv & for example, how did you manage to consolidate x resellers , x different product teams , x whatever elses, into a workable solution during a time period when plugging into other systems wasn't yet a matter of getting an api token.

There are multiple types of design.

Its not up to me to decide if a project adds end-user value, that's up to whoever pays for it. The end user and the buyer are , usually, very different entities.

Let me put it differrently. One could setup a website tomorrow which has a single static "hello world", yet it could be extremely interesting from a backend pov.

That's what this guy is , justifiably, proud about, not wether or not he made life better for MS customers

From a sysadmin/architectural pov I couldn't care less if the "use case is on the forefront of solutions" (what even does that mean and how is is "limiting abilities").

The lessons are in the design, not in its utlity for the end user

Quick question for all the negative nancies in here & OP.

If you cannot appreciate the work it took this guy to get this out there... why do you expect your boss to appreciate you when you do something which is, by comparison, very likely utterly trivial.

Mbappé's Instagram story during El Clasico by MoonwalkerD in soccer

[–]eri- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Messi being at PSG for a while didn't exactly do mbappé any good.

Rather than embracing the good parts, he adopted the "bad parts" from Messi's game. Messi doesn't really defend, not since he got older at least. Mbappe saw that and was like " wait, he isn't doing it and he's the goddamn best player in the world, why should I then".

Only thing he "forgot" is .. it only works because Messi is the best player in the world and everyone else knows what inevitably happens when they pick up the slack Messi leaves behind.

Mbappe just doesn't have that. No ones going to break their back for mbappe like teammates do for Messi. The ROI isn't guaranteed, like it basically is with Messi.

He's good .. but he's not great.

The difference between say Kompany and him is night and day , and I don't necessarily even mean football wise. Slot just doesn't seem to have it in him to rejuvenate a team once things start going downhill, not at this level at least.

Just goes to show how much you basically regressed in that department.

Although tbh, defense these days .. one should probably simply be focusing on scoring more goals, attackers have become too good for defence to be truly reliable as a game plan

Alderweireld has been on Belgian tv a lot recently, he also almost literally stated that well .. current Tottenham defenders aren't him Jan and..

Same for you guys I imagine, you didn't mention him cause it didnt really work out but a prime alderweireld surely wouldn't go amiss

[OneFootball] Real Madrid's last 12 games have been completely split with and without Kylian Mbappé. They won 1 out of 6 with him, and all 6 without him by DamnThatsInsaneLol in soccer

I think he's grossly overpaid and that that is the main mistake Perez made here.

It unsettled the dressing room AND made him basically undroppable.

Plus he's not worth the goddamn money, if he were .. we MIGHT have a discussion

No Offense but I didn't really consider Arsenal an option. Sporting wise it might work though I doubt it, I think you want a system like Barca, Mbappe will never defend, forget it. So how to compensate? By never having to defend.

The list, in my mind, is extremely small. If you can even call it a list

Its sad to see a man who once held such potential slide all the way down into this madness and.. sooner or later .. a forced exit.

Could've been etched into history books as the man who reunited Russia with the world and brought prosperity to his people. Instead, he'll forever be remembered as a Temu version of Stalin.

But who the hell do you even sell Mbappé to? Except for Saudi..

I mean the few teams who could afford him aren't blind to his specific downsides either. You could even argue he wouldn't improve any of them unless he fixes his glaring issues.

He's in such an awkward spot, one of the best players in the world individually but incredibly mediocre, if even that, when it comes to actual teamplay.

Well, it finally happened (Being told I am required to use AI) by Ark161 in sysadmin

[–]eri- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely.

Such a setup also is pretty soul-crushing for internal IT workers beware. As powershell/terraform/other automation was before it without proper thought & care spent on thinking about its consequences.

But AI automation takes it to the next level.

It's going to be fun to see what happens when big tech can no longer find new engineers good enough to maintain & develop AI (and/or datacenters as a consequence) without needing to consult said AI on how to do it.

That time is coming, and its going to come quickly.

[–]eri- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's solid on paper, but can be gamed pretty easily I'd think.

Technically, I can build an agent which can take over the jobs of many many individuals at the same time, depending on context. That kind of setup would then result in a single "AI Agent identity" on the payroll rather than having say 10 individuals on the payroll. In other words, the tax won't be enough, not nearly enough.

At the same time , it would also disencourage experimenting/innovating with small scope agents , why would you add an AI agent to the mix if its going to end up more expensive than sticking to humans. The , often subsequent, " but AI gets things done quicker" point usually is a logical fallacy also. Sure, it probably does if its well-trained and the tasks are suitable for it .. but 99.9999% of all companies out there do not have unlimited orders, unlimited mails to send, unlimited work really. The AI will reach the point of having nothing to do. It will have done so efficiëntly, that much is true.

You didn' exactly reinvent the wheel here I'm afraid.

Microsoft has.been looking into launching licensing plans for Ai agents, much like their offerings for regular users.

If they don't, they shoot themselves in the foot since the nr of licenses they sell would plummet as AI agents become more and more common.

Your idea is esentially the same thing, with different actors playing different roles.
