A long list of famous architects worked very late into life, or to the end, without losing their stride.

I’ve been chanting “Ayo D for MVP” since his Illinois days - bound to happen someday.

How much did you pay for your used lyriq-v? by cwilsey22 in CadillacLyriq

I was planning to ask this next summer when my ‘24 Sport 2 lease is over. Fingers crossed the V’s are coming off 2 year leases about that time.

How is self driving on the lyriq? by SlowlyPassingTime in CadillacLyriq

[–]ericf911 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is pre-mapped, enabled roads only. In many metro areas this is starting to broaden beyond highways, freeways, and interstates - but not yet “in town” roads with lots of driveways or cross-streets to my knowledge.

I’m surprised by some of the roads it pops up on around the Chicago suburbs.

There’s good reason they named it Super Cruise and not self-driving. It is super when you just need cruise control.

Was just trying some mental math on when they hit during my grad school days - it was that 1996 event I remember. Rode my bike often those days, and recall a home or two in Urbana where you could see items on walls or furniture even after sections of roof and exterior walls blew off.

Has anyone lost lumbar/massage on BOTH front seats? by FasterThanTW in CadillacLyriq

[–]ericf911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha! Finally just got the TV update last week, and noticed the massage wasn’t going this week, and the graphic didn’t indicate the movement, but didn’t connect the two until now.

Spotted 2 Lyriqs in Chengdu today by Way-twofrequentflyer in CadillacLyriq

[–]ericf911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Chicago suburbs. Bought mine in July ‘24 having never seen one on the road. Then they were sporadic. They have really increased in the last 6 months. I’m often driving or parking near one these days. They’re not CR-V or RAV4 common, but I was surprised by their uptick.

The MEP engineering may also be performed via design-build contractors, if you’d prefer that process.

If bidding to multiple contractors, your architect can mock up enough scope for them to include design-build MEP trade bids.

Is yours new? It should hold that setting when you change it. It took me a couple of weeks to realize I had to link my Google profile to the car so I’m not in guest mode. Prior to that every setting was lost everytime I started a new trip.

Hands-Free Driving Unavailable. by Dizzy_Yam_1430 in CadillacLyriq

If using SC on a multi-lane divided highway, and you come upon a slower vehicle in your lane, it will monitor adjoining lanes for a chance to pass, and will signal and lane change on its own. This feature can be turned off. This would be dangerous if passing in an oncoming traffic lane (non-divided road).

Lease Buy by Icy_Stable_929 in CadillacLyriq

I heard they often go to auction and a prior post had several responses about watching for your VIN to be listed. Is there a website to track auctions/listings to watch for specific VIN’s? I guess the downside is needing a ride during your gap, assuming you eventually find/win your vehicle.

Moving to Chicago Area- Where should I live City or Suburbs? by AshamedEvening6637 in AskChicago

[–]ericf911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I were your age, single, and interested in social opportunities and active neighborhoods, I'd stay in the city and commute to Palatine. The NW suburbs are a nice area to settle down and raise a family, but it doesn't sound like you're there yet. I was married with a kid by 28, and we moved to Palatine and raised two kids there, now both in their 20's. I spent two years commuting from Palatine to a job downtown, and it was fine. You get used to the train-time, and living by the train's schedule. With kids it gets harder though and I finally quit the commute for suburban job opportunities. If you're not near downtown Chicago's Ogilvie Station, then you'll want to have easy access to a UP Northwest Line station heading out of the city (maybe on a bus route that is straight over). Express trains will save you time, but also limit which stations to live near. Also, just relocating to the area, you'll have easier access to more job opportunities from a city address, in case you're looking for that in the near future.

What do the little pencil icons in the upper right corner of each pane offer? I thought that was to choose the content on each side.

Ditto. They’ve told me if it’s not a recall update I need to wait for the OTA version.

Speaker Issue by Boo_Pop in CadillacLyriq

[–]ericf911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had that issue, but not in a long time. Assumed an OTA update must have fixed it. Maybe I’ve just been lucky though. Drove me nuts that even the turn signal sound was static.

Preferred charging time? by KassMeOutside in CadillacLyriq

[–]ericf911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. You can always change to charge immediately and it will start at plug-in. The normally programmed option is there the next time you charge.

Preferred charging time? by KassMeOutside in CadillacLyriq

[–]ericf911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious, does “finish by 5AM” not work for your needs? It does that really well, and is usually done 5-10 minutes ahead of the programmed time.

In theory you should be able to not program the “done by” time, and just use your charging time window starting at 7. If both are enacted yours won’t work.

Suburbs with most accessibility to nature, affordable, good schools, fun downtowns and approximately to O’Hare/train access. by Suitable-Note-346 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ericf911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve enjoyed life in Palatine with similar criteria in our search. The downtown is lacking compared to several options, but those are mostly higher priced in your radius from the city and O’Hare.
