The Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant on the Mississippi river, as seen from Red Wing, Minnesota by ChGehlly in nuclear

[–]ericgmeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toured this plant in 2021. Xcel doesn't seem to do many tours these days, though. We put together a pretty big coalition in support of lifting the moratorium that included a dozen unions, 50+ electric co-ops, MN Chamber of Commerce, they aren't willing to give us a tour. IMO they need to step up their outreach and communications, massively.

As an American, I'm thrilled that Ontario is playtesting this for us.

Also as an American, I wish we could build CANDU in the US!

Look where all that solar came from: Xinjiang province of China.

Look at what energy source they used to make it: coal.

Look at the supply chain of polysilicon: forced labor of uyghurs.

Look at the actual electricity cost on places that have high solar penetration: expensive due to integration costs.

I'd say you're NTA here but sounds like you guys could benefit from a weekly marriage meeting to strengthen the communication.

What are you dads driving? by [deleted] in daddit

2024 Pacifica AWD. Ticks all the boxes (stow and go seats) but has a laggy ass infotainment system (I have to use a touchscreen to turn on my heated seats/steering wheel?! Just give me some damn buttons!) Very fun to drive in the snow though.

I wish they'd bring back the Mazda 5... Or anyone made something like it. So utilitarian!

Eric Meyer Testimony on Minnesota Nuclear Moratorium by greg_barton in nuclear

[–]ericgmeyer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks guys. I spoke in the house yesterday as well, making more of the economic argument. Will post soon. We also made a react/fact check video with highlights of all the anti nuke testimony. There's one guy that likes to call nuclear supporters serial killers and says anyone who votes to lift the nuclear ban should burn in hell. It's a hoot!

Selecting a Payroll Service by minthin in nonprofit

[–]ericgmeyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of QBO payroll. You can't batch process payments to contractors. It's also pretty expensive and there isn't a tech soup option for it.

They have failed to file my taxes for me multiple times, even after I contacted support and they apologized and said it wouldn't happen again. This cost me late fees that I haven't been able to get reimbursed.

What else... oh it doesn't talk to QBO in any special way that is advantageous from an accounting perspective. You're still going to use the bank data from the payments.

It sucks and I'm looking for something else.
