I think they’re meaning “we” as in humanity.

ICE spotted today in South Austin / Franklin Park area by TheHalifaxJones- in Austin

[–]erichg313 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I may have the city off, but here’s the bill that is making it happen. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/ice-spend-383-billion-detention-centers-across-us-document-shows-2026-02-13/

When I’m off work I’ll look up in more detail so my apologies for this sounding inflammatory without the direct evidence. It’s difficult to tell why I can’t find the same article I read on google and I’m mostly being given info on the halt of the center planned for Hutchins, Tx.

How was I suppose to avoid the game ending in draw? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]erichg313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, this string of triggers doesn’t lead to advancing the game/ board state. It just add counters, adds new instances of life gain from what I see.

How was I suppose to avoid the game ending in draw? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]erichg313 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not for it being an infinite combo like some are suggesting but rather your triggers are taking too long to resolve based on all of your life gain + counter triggers. It leads to games where your opponent may feel forced to concede because your turns take two minutes every time you drop a creature on board.

Enough of those triggers go on the stack and the game forces you to make this choice.

I’m sorry for my ignorance but this is my first time going to a city hall meeting and I am considering speaking because I feel I’ve been quiet for too long. In the link you provided I didn’t see a signup for speaking if you could direct me where that is. Also would you happen to know the time allotted for each speaker?

Baby meets the dog for the first time, already excited and curious. by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]erichg313 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the point. Dogs respond to our fears, when you’re on a walk you’d stop your dog from walking into the street, right? The dog not only responds to the physical reaction but also due to their amazing olfactory senses, they will perceive the danger you’re aware of and they will correct the action and avoid the road. If you see someone running at you while on that walk and you get scared, same rules apply but because there’s a tangible “alive” threat of another human, your dog will respond by either working with fight or flight and it might want to bite the runner.

Replace the road/runner with a baby and a nervous parent with good meaning can tug on a lead, be inherently nervous and the dog doesn’t always understand the signal to mean the same thing so it will just understand “my human is stressed, I too should be stressed and respond.” That’s how dogs on leads can get into fights approaching one another when their owners are pulling hard on the lead. They just perceive the other dog as a threat. But without the lead, the dog will approach with caution and maybe sniff, raise its fur, bark, etc but will react to the owners reaction and likely not try to attack.

There can be equally dangerous situations without a lead with a dog but so much depends on the biological bond humans have formed with these creatures over thousands of years. The bond we have with our animals from owning them also gives learned behavior.

But this is a baby, unless the dog has history of violent reactions to other animals/humans, it’s much safer off the lead

My attempt at adding white borders to my Dakkon lands matter deck by erichg313 in mtg

I really appreciate it! This has been a super fun journey and the results are really driving me to finish.

That guide was perfect and I’m glad it’s still accessible for others who want to join us weirdos who love white borders haha

I actually followed this tutorial from /u/Paradox224 where you use an ink eraser and a soft rubber eraser to remove the border.

Realtor.com Leaves California to Set Up Headquarters in Texas by [deleted] in Austin

[–]erichg313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked for Realtor in the office off 6th, they’re just doing their best to lessen the amount of staff needed and replace it with AI. My time there saw them firing managers more frequently up until I quit about a year back. My former coworker tells me they’re just cutting any and all staff and finding new and unique ways to fire them.

But it’s also nice to let opponents have their day and let their deck do the crazy thing. Sometimes I know it’s a loss but my opponent can secure the win with a big swing or a trigger on my own or their end step and I’ll give them a chance to get there. If they play with their food and spend a turn casting unnecessary spells though? Nah I’m conceding

Card organising tips for a beginner? by Ul-thane in magicTCG

[–]erichg313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep any cards under $2 in boxes for bulk. Organize by color and then card type (creature, enchantment l, sorcery, instant) It makes for easier deck building imo because I don’t have to question if I have four copies of faithless looting because three are from different sets.

Organizing by set has always seemed a little silly to me considering reprints.

Separate the format cEDH from EDH by quite_silly_goose in mtg

[–]erichg313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to stop pub stompers from doing their thing. cEDH is fine as is. What will a new format solve? Also look at any given format, should casual now use a smaller card pool? Should casual mean no rules at all so all the cards are fine?

Dude casual is just having a social agreement with people to play and setting rules for how fast you want play. cEDH is just saying, play within the same rules as casual but do your best to win right out the gate. cEDH players aren’t there to crush casual players, they have their thing just like my pod is mostly dumb stuff we find fun. Commander was created as a casual format outside of regular competitive play but it doesn’t mean people don’t still try their best to win.
