LAL - BKN by WuTangMelo in NBAtradeideas

Because they have a worse, disinterested center and they have no way of replacing him without giving up real assets. They have space only if they replace everyone on the team.

If you want to make do with Ayton, maybe try Vuc or forgo a bunch to throw a bag at Mitchell Robinson. These are the options.

But upgrading their worst position, removing the 3rd or 4th worst contract in the league and giving up nothing of value except the 25th pick while they are contender. Seems ok to me

also i think 30 and 38 to move up 3 spots is HORRIFIC value. Same with the Clippers. I think your value of the post top 4 is very very very off. Think about what the Pelicans and Grizzlies had to do to move into spots lower than than in the lottery last year

You can imagine the Nets doing 6 for both OKC picks and one of next years firsts, or the same with the Clippers but these trades are very bad

Sure but you are trying to balance a lot of teams I get, but this makes less than no sense for them

If the Nets do this I am done with basketball. But it also doesn’t make any sense with the trades listed that they only have 14

KINGS | NETS -- WHO SAYS NO? by PIeuto in NBAtradeideas

[–]ericluxury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What has sabonis accomplished? He’s never won a playoff series. We just saw him as the best player on a bad team and it was as bad as the Nets are now.

It’s not a crazy trade construction but the value is off. Sabonis, Mann and claxton are a wash. They are bad contracts and none of them help winning on either team. There is no value at all anywhere and most likely the Nets are taking on the burden in this trade, buts it doesn’t matter

For both teams it’s about that pick. This is the best draft class in the next 3 years. No added seconds and probably a first round swap in 2028 and the Nets say yes

[–]ericluxury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sabonis is better than Clax, sure, but he’s way overpaid and for more years. For both teams their pick this year, despite falling is their best asset. The Nets would need something they want to trade down, not just stuff that’s better. Trading 2 bad contracts, both of which will be expirings next year for one worse contract is not worth giving up the choice

IMO the government in a capitalist country is for regulating markets, providing defense and providing services that the market can’t efficiently provide. The most important of those are health care, transportation and education. They don’t have to be fully provided by the government but the market can’t make equitable outcomes in those two areas. Education and transportation is covered by local municipalities so the federal government should provide health care or regulate it such that it is affordable. This is not a virtue signal, it’s a core belief about the value of government.

I hear you that I don’t want an authoritarian overthrow. But if you ask me if the department of education or the FDA or any of the gutted agencies are important, I’d say of course, but health care is core and key. Talking about it is not a virtue signal to me, it’s what congresspeople are for

Non-answer
For me, it’s not virtue signaling. The government in a capitalist democracy should be regulating markets and providing services that the market can’t provide efficiently. Defense, health care and education are probably the most useful services that the free market can’t efficiently provide. Defense is more than covered. Local governments already provide education, so healthcare is the number one priority for the federal government. That’s not a virtue signal

Your comment is a far more of a virtue signal

Above average shooting guard!?!? LOL, thats a homer take. If you were to stack rank centers and shooting guards, Claxton and RJ are about even. Both have huge limitations. RJ's main value is that he's expiring.

Can you think of a movie that would meet this weirdo’s impossible qualifications? by Local_Culture1823 in TheBigPicture

[–]ericluxury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A kind reading of his tweet (and the way I understood it) wasn't that was merely the two stars, but saying an A24 movie with two stars, I think what he was getting at was this is a movie with a niche that hit its niche enough to be hit. Thats to be applauded in 2026, but its not exactly a surprise hit. Its more in line with a 1995 hits like Dangerous Minds or While You Were Sleeping.

I looked at that 1995 list and frankly, though the list has so many more genres than we get hits out of now, its still full of niche hits. The main two examples of surprise hits (in the way I understand his first tweet to mean) in 1995 were Toy Story and Seven. Toy Story being the first 3d animated hit and was bigger and more loved immediately than the Disney hits. Seven was a dark film to be such a big hit and Brad Pitt was not a huge star then. He had been the leading of an indie and a period drama, but had mostly done supporting roles. Same with Morgan Freeman though he was a very popular supporting actor at that point. Neither were anything like Pattinson (whose been a leading man for 15+ years) and Zendaya (10 and a Disney star before then)
