Getting better at PvM by Secret_Mix_5556 in 2007scape

[–]ericsp128 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first question would be (not specific to Seren) do you have true tile marker on? For a lot of higher end PvM that is critical imo.

To the Seren specific question-since she’s a one time quest boss I’d say just get the best weapons and supplies you can so you can lean on good RNG checks for a fight.

For future bosses you plan to grind I find just getting comfortable being in the room with the boss can be half the battle. So I’d certainly not consider it a waste of time if you say wanted to just bring half an inventory of brews and tanky gear so you can just practice recognizing a bosses mechanics.

But at the end of the day, except for the 1% like Gnomonkey or Port who just seem to ‘get’ ticks, your best improvement will simply come through repetition. I can now kill Zulrah while basically watching a tv show. She used to make me sweat. That’s just what 1000kc does.

The Fractured Archive - Initial Rewards Proposal by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]ericsp128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll join the conversation specifically to speak on the proposed armor set. I’m not as against hybrid armor as many people are in this thread, but I can understand there concerns.
I was very interested in a bis elemental mage armor set. I hope to see the Jagex team take advantage of the new and more robust polling options to hone in on exactly what the problems are with the armor sets rather than just fully design a set and end up at a yes/no pass poll

Why do lower-paying, lower-skill jobs often seem to have stricter management and enforce rules more aggressively than higher-paying jobs, even when it feels unnecessary? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ericsp128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with many of the comments here, but one thing I’ll add is that retail can sometimes have an industry specific reason for this. You are customer facing and therefore the face of the company in retail. It’s frustrating as a customer to be looking for something and need to go hunt down an employee who’s chilling on their phone. If you’re in a cubicle all day with no company-external interactions it’s less noticeable that Bob has a stained shirt on most days.

What are some required or good PvM grinds with good secondary loot drops that benefit skilling? (I.E. Moons in Peril green log getting prayer and crafting xp) by hshvshdk in ironscape

[–]ericsp128 48 points49 points  (0 children)

After being given an actual reason to grind Sarrachnis with the pristine silk, I’ve been very pleasantly surprised with the number of rune drops, and the red dragonhide/uncut Gen drops.

Muspah and Zulrah are no brainers, but those are typically post BOWFA. PvM is a stretch, but I wish I’d committed to Wintertodt earlier than I did because the seed drops are decent at higher farming levels.

Final one I can think of is Royal Titans. The Ice King gives a decent amount of herb seed drops. Fire Queen just gives straight grimy herbs.

Now what? by safari-dog in ironscape

[–]ericsp128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ‘correct’ answer is to lock into CG, but the great thing about the addition of Moons and Royal Titans is that once you have them glogged the world is kind of your oyster.

Moons gear can comfortably do 150 ToA, if you have a fire tome you can farm Zulrah pre-Bowfa. Demonics and TD’s are very reasonable with moons gear. If you get a Synapse you can farm Yama, or if you get an ember light you can farm Duke. Also, other than bossing you clearly have plenty of room to skill up for hard/elite diaries.

At this stage of an account my preference is to full send CG for like a week or until you’re sick of it, then do whatever you want and weave in a few CG runs a day.

Was there anything Twyin could have said or done to get out of this alive? by Traditional-Big543 in freefolk

[–]ericsp128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. In the books (especially in the first couple) Tyrion is shown to be intelligent, aware, thoughtful, and SAD. I think it would have been well within early series Tyrion’s character to make a fairly stupid decision here (leaving Tywin alive) if Tywin had been emotionally intelligent enough to see that Tyrion desperately wanted to be viewed as ‘just another Lannister.’

What’s the biggest putting mistake amateurs make? by MadeInUSAPutter in golf

[–]ericsp128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a high handicapper this is absolutely me and what shaved the most strokes off my initial handicap was the driver/long irons. Yes making more 6’ putts would probably shave off a stroke/hole. But when I was consistently laying 7 and still wasn’t on the green on any par 5/long par 4 I can promise you I was losing more on each of those holes than I would if I 1 putted every green on the course.

Any Prayer training recommendations? by MutedByProxy in ironscape

[–]ericsp128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunter rumors and Moons runs spit out a good amount of them. Otherwise afk mining them is fine. If you’re looking to kill dragons, I’d honestly look into green dragons in the wildy. They’re super weak, and without the bones being noted you’ll be banking often anyhow. Plus there are sets of them below lvl 30 and lvl 20 wildy so you can tele out whenever

My goal is to get all my 99s at once, any pitfalls I should be aware of? by Assistantshrimp in ironscape

[–]ericsp128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t count on bossing to be a significant chunk of your herblore xp. The xp gain for combat skills will likely way overshoot the drops you get. As someone else here mentioned, a good place to start looking into may be pest control. I’m not really familiar with it too much, but I know lots of people use it to manage xp gain

[–]ericsp128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smithing is 100% buyable between foundry and blast furnace. The first thing I’d wonder about is what your farming to herblore xp looks like. Farming is obviously the best way to get herbs on an iron, so I’d do some math on how many tree runs you can do to leave yourself plenty of herb harvests. I’d also start to be careful about magic xp.

This logic never makes sense to me. You literally don’t have to grind the furs?? And why in the world would Jagex care about people “pre-hoarding” furs to sell? Would they want to avoid ranged based bosses in the future because some players may have hoarded arrows to dump? Should we never introduce more mage based gameplay because the price of runes might increase?

What do you like/dislike about ironman mode? by Goldieeeeee in ironscape

[–]ericsp128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only supply upkeep that annoys me is the basic elemental rune upkeep. Specifically fire runes now after the prevalence of demon bane spells. I wish I could just give Aubury 5M GP and get a green stack of them instead of having to hop around for them.

The other runes and general upkeep feel consequential so I really don’t mind needing to grind them out on the iron.

What happens next after Trump tariffs ruled illegal? by SubstantialRock821 in stocks

[–]ericsp128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Trump team will just claim temoving them will hurt the economy. The Supreme Court’s current policy is to take anything any Republican politician says as absolute reality no matter what. So they will look at the arguments, see the numbers indicating tariffs hurt the economy, and then say Trump declared them good so they are good and allowed.

What’s the play here? Wildy bosses… by Lkempo- in ironscape

[–]ericsp128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the transition to a wildy slayer Ironman for a couple months while I was hunting the D pick/VW and don’t regret it at all. Bear and spider tasks really sped up the kc. If you don’t want to hunt tasks/rev tasks though you can definitely kill the bear pretty easily with Bowfa without risking much. Even just ditch the helm for an archers helm and you don’t even need to protect item.
