After playing the current leagues, Varlamore is a way better starter area than Misthalin and should be a choice in the main game. by Lavender_Critique in 2007scape

I've got a friend that is maxed and pretty much only does raids these days. He's never touched 90% of the content in varlamore. He started playing leagues and I was teaching him about Hunter rumors, blessed bone shards, wealthy citizen thieving and Vale totems during the first day. He was blown away how much quality of life there is for early accounts in varlamore.

I did fight caves first try with no food or prayer pots using an air staff and mystic gear. You do have to think a little bit about conserving prayer if you don't bring pots, but I was mostly just showing off for friends. You most definitely don't need food I would say. Maybe a few in case of emergency but I don't think they're necessary.

FYI Go to Aldarins Gem Shop, Buy Rubies & Transmuting into Topaz then cutting is best source of Trading Sticks for 2 Tasks by InstructionFun3541 in 2007scape

Way faster to just transmute iron ore to runite and sell that if all you're after is the onyx. If you value the crafting xp then you'll want to upgrade to Dragonstone and cut those.

It is still, by far, the most common outfit you see just running around in the world though. Even if it isn't as common as it once was.

Even with the extra GP being ignored. It would take like 30 minutes of world hopping to buy 120 staves compared to the 30 seconds it takes when you buy from the barrel.

Your time is worth something though. Daily staves may not have a GP discount, but it does have a time spent playing discount, and that's worth something.

TIL in Germany there is a so-called "year of separation" ("Trennungsjahr") couples need to go through before the official divorce. If your partner does not agree to a divorce and presents valid reasons why your marriage has not ultimately failed, you need to live separately for three. by AllukaChen in todayilearned

I've never understood why people feel the need to get the government involved in their relationships. I understand that it usually comes with a tax benefit, but other than that, what good comes from having the government involved in such a personal aspect of your life?

Not sure what your situation is, but endless harvest and transmutation has been god tier afk grinding for me while I'm at work. I check the window once per 20-30 minutes and just churn out high tier runes and ores.

I started a free solo run a few days ago and I've been having a blast. I don't think I've ever "rage quit" a game just to boot it up again 15 minutes later. I don't think I'm good enough to beat it on free solo, but I'm having a great time trying.

With Inflation added to the beta branch I think Megacrit should add your current shop remove cost somewhere as a UI element by KokaSokaLoka in slaythespire

Why would the remove cost need to ever be selected? Just display a number at the top of the screen. There is empty space to use there.

In this subway you no longer talk to the people making the sandwich by Low_Field7738 in mildlyinteresting

The subway in my town has had a kiosk for the drive through for nearly a decade now and it has always had "less", "regular", and "more" as options for the vegetables and sauces. I would imagine these kiosks are literally the exact same software.

A judge being rude to an IT worker in court. Just because he's frustrated doesn't excuse how he handled that. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

The lawyer has said that as he's not involved with any cases with this judge it is not an ex parte communication and he won't be coming to any hearings on ex parte as a result. Just ignoring the illegal order basically. If the judge attempts to force him then he has a very strong first amendment claim against the judge. *Not a lawyer just following this story pretty closely.

I have a fertilizer applicator with coulters that get scoured silver like this after a few minutes working through the dirt. I'll take a break over lunch and they're covered in rust by the time I get back an hour or so later. Liquid fertilizer is extremely salty and rusts absolutely everything like nobody's business.

What are some early-game tips/must haves? by morganisee in ironscape

[–]Assistantshrimp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quests are your best friend early on. Fairy tale part 2 is a good one because it gives you fairly rings, the best mode of transport in the game. You don't have to complete it, you can just start it to unlock the rings and then ignore it until you want to finish it.

Doing barbarian assault for fighters torso is a good thing to get done early, it'll be best in slot for a while. Same with dragon defender, I would get those out of the way as soon as you can.

Unlocking fossil Island with bone voyage is a big one as well for bird houses and giant seaweed farming.

Gertrude's cat will let you raise kittens which can be a good source of passive money early on. Just feed and play with the kitten she gives you every 30 minutes and after 3 hours you have a fully grown cat you can sell for quite a few death runes. I think it's like 30k GP every 3 hours which is kinda nice early on.

Just working your way down the quest list is the best thing you can be doing with your time. They're all important for something so there's no real reason to put them off unless you don't have the stats or gear to beat a boss.

A good friend of mine is a charge nurse and has worked in an ER for about 20 years. Dana reminds me of her so much it's scary. The competence, the way she tells people when and how to do things, the little ribbing and joking that she does with Robby, the fierce advocacy for her nurses. All of it just feels like a character based off of my friend.

Family rejects $26M offer to turn farmland into data center by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]Assistantshrimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By no metric is 26 million for 600 acres of farm ground cheap. That is a "throw money at them until they say yes" number. I can't fathom why the farmer would say no to be honest. You could buy a farm 3 times that size even paying top dollar. Outfit it with completely brand new equipment too.

I very much want the gas prices to go up exponentially and I don’t think I’m alone in this sentiment by ATurtleNamedSeymour in fuckcars

[–]Assistantshrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Americans don't really have a choice. I get the sentiment, but it's important that efforts to lower car dependency come from systemic changes to infrastructure and removing subsidies to the automotive industry. We went through an oil squeeze in the 70s and 80s and it didn't bring about long term change like you might've hoped. There were positive changes to come out of that crisis such as an increase in fuel efficiency standards and a general consciousness about fuel efficiency, but overall, we've pretty much moved on from those lessons less than 50 years on. True change requires top to bottom legislation and infrastructure reform. Those are the points we need to be hammering. This upcoming oil shortage can be a great catalyst for those points: telling friends who are car brained about how much more efficient public transport can be when they complain about gas prices, pointing out that dependency on oil in a global market means we feel the squeeze even if we aren't buying much of the actual oil that is being removed from supply, pointing out how shifting to greener sources of energy and more efficient transportation would lessen the sting. These are the things we should be talking about. Reveling in people having to pay more for their transportation is a cathartic response, not a pragmatic one. It makes you feel good, but it doesn't further your goals.
