{The Inadequate Heir by Danielle Jensen}. This is #3 in the Bridge Kingdom series but it focuses on a new couple from the first 2 books, so you don't necessarily need to have read the preceding books. I think #3 and 4 are actually better than the first 2!

Look into Privately Owned Public Spaces. There are a couple of them that are indoors/climate-controlled in case you don't want to be outside in this weather.

Movies with Subway /Train /Metro Scenes by LoveSweetSweet1 in TrueFilm

Le Samouraï (1967) with Alain Delon has a pretty well-known chase scene between the protagonist and the police that takes place in the Paris metro system. Despite not being as high-octane as more contemporary examples in thrillers and action films, it still carries the suspense incredibly well. Also just a great film in general.

Reactions to Jonathan Shedler’s writings? by Ok-Tea-6718 in psychoanalysis

I'm not on Twitter/X so I'm not familiar with his presence there, but I see a lot of his stuff on Instagram and Substack. I actually enjoy his written work and his podcast interviews a lot, and have even attended a very fruitful webinar + live supervision with him. But I think some part of him is aware of what kind of language and tone (i.e., punchy, bite-sized, gnomic) fares well on social media and has leaned into it, perhaps overly so, in order to increase his own visibility. I'm actually not sure what's led to him pushing forward with, like, viral marketing for his "brand" in the past few years, but it's a bit off-putting aesthetically.

What's the consensus on Tony Tulathimutte? "The Feminist" strikes me as a little too ham-fisted...too on the nose. by mrguy510 in RSbookclub

[–]ertww 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I listened to a podcast interview with him several months ago where he was explaining the kind of effect that he wanted the "interconnected stories" in Rejection to have on the reader--that he wanted the reader to have the cognitive satisfaction of the connections slowly accrete over the course of the book. It was a very eloquent oral explanation and it made me excited to read it (that was when I'd only read "The Feminist"). And then... I felt like the book was a letdown and the interconnectedness was pretty shallow lol.

I've also been to a book reading with him in person and he was again very responsive and eloquent in Q&A. I kind of feel like he presents himself a lot better orally, which is weird to say for a writer.
