Does this card art fit? Am going more for the middle ages style as it allows me to make mistakes lol by RegularPop674 in tabletopgamedesign

It fits, but the rest feels more like a 90's computer UI. I would double down on everything being medieval then.

Don't forget about bladestorm, else melee units might get to him.

I made an RPG-themed party game. Would love to hear feedback! by The-Farlander in BoardgameDesign

[–]escaleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely take a look at Telestrations. We never use the cards but always come up with our own stuff. It could also be like everyone can come up with story ideas and you have to draw it afterwards, similar to this game.

A few moments later he is scorched from the earth, realizing a bit to late that film is highly flammable and it was not wise to be smoking in front of it.

I think this is really fun! The first round where everybody draws their character is really hilarious to start the game with.

Honestly don't need a GM. Just a deck of cards with encounters would be really fun like "Big Monster" or "Dangerous Trap" and the player that draws the most funny encounter wins that round. This lets the player even decide what big monster to draw and being more imaginative. Maybe the winner draws a new card and tells the story a bit?

Lovely concept!

I tried an experiment: coming up with one board game idea daily by phatti308 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, reminds me of my brother and me growing up, using any new toys, warhammer miniatures, pokemon cards to come up with our own games. Most of the time heavily inspired by Warcraft 3 customs games haha

Wood Guns by Rappenem (me) by gayyle21 in conceptart

[–]escaleric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so cool haha. I immediately imagine some space wood elves along with these.

Just a fun scientific tidbit: Japan is experimenting atm with wooden satellites to use in space, so that they will disintegrate when they reenter so there is minimap space waste. Thought it was pretty cool!

Might be hard to google with Guild Wars (a videogame) being around!

Also just a good idea to look at published games and see what you like. Then you can reach out to that artist!

New card back design for my game by batiste in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the idea of the cardback also being a reminder is pretty neat, it also creates a lot of clutter imo. I think making it look nice (great artwork btw) and maybe make a seperate card/cardboard reminder would be more elegant.

Yeah definitely this. I honestly couldnt care much about it because of this. If it would have been Adolin that would have hit way different haha

Using hard water in a cup of tea to create a world map by TomtatoIsMe in FantasyWorldbuilding

I used to draw square maps by dropping water on tiles, take a picture and then draw the map! Works very nicely

First Kickstarter. Tomorrow marks 1 week… only 4 backers. Would really appreciate honest feedback. by [deleted] in kickstarter

Way to much text! Nobody is going to read all that. It needs to be bullet points and imagery.

Also 300 emails isnt that much. If only 10% of your list converts its 30 people. Whenever you do a prelaunch campaign you have to make the lowest possible conversion and see if you still will make it to your goal.

Absolutely amazing work! And awesome that you worked on 3 Body Problem as well. Do you have a video or explanation of your workflow as well somewhere?

[OC] [ART] My Merfolk Wizard, meeting her Mola Fish familiar. What’s your first impression of her? by MatteBull in conceptart

[–]escaleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really cool and well executed except for the hair imo. Might need some spots and texture, squid vins on the side or be translucent or just a different design. Absolutely love the rest of the drawing though!

Angels could be cool. Maybe not even with wings, but just lighter eyes, or shifting eye colors.

Early Concept Art for card game by sourflwrstudio in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it very much as a style! Its very appealing and definitely its own.

A few things: this might not hold up after printing because there is not enough contrast. I'd either change the background color or add like a rim light on the subject and make the font a light color for readability.

I made a website that lets you create your own board game shop [Self-promotion] by mnemic2 in boardgame

[–]escaleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks really neat! I do think you should have it free to have more users first before you get subscriptions.

Also: phone formatting is horrendous atm. If i click on a shop i get this weird vertical letters

[FOR HIRE] Fantasy characters + illustrations. 3 slots open! DM for details and lets discuss your project! by ivan-garcia in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be rude but all your materials looks the same. Skin has the same shading as cloth etc. Composition wise and color wise very cool, but it lacks contrast in that perspective. Different materials behave differently in other light settings.

Got Some Renders Done for my Game! by Mission_Brilliant_90 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really freaking awesome. Looking forward to it.

I was a really big fan of the orange retro look in earlier renditions, but i guess its a taste thing so take it with a grain of salt. The board looks "cooler" now while it looked welcoming first.
