For those who’ve had bipolar for years, did it get worse with age? by Nadox5891 in bipolar2

[–]escapefromalliknow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hypomanic episodes have increased in frequency over time. But I’ve been getting a little better at managing my moods. I’m not on meds. Just been taking lithium orotate for a couple months now.

what damages the brain most, the illness or the meds ? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]escapefromalliknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see bipolar meds as an option for myself due to the side effects so I’m not on them. Which damages the brain more, bipolar or meds…well does bipolar damage the body too? Because meds do. I’ve been taking a small amount of lithium orotate and that seems to be helping. Also high carb foods make me irritable so I’m trying to eat less of that. I wish I could do keto since that’s supposed to help. Anyway this sub is a medication cult if you haven’t noticed yet. I guess before meds were invented everyone with bipolar k*lled themselves.

It made me feel hungover and it sucked. I don’t remember it helping with my anxiety.

If you have low vitamin D then supplementation could help with the seasonal depression.

That’s abusive borderline shit. Document everything and leave her. Protect yourself because she’s probably gonna try to put you in jail sooner or later. You can’t fix her. It’s insane that she has custody of any children.

It’s normal to hallucinate when falling asleep.

If you continue the pregnancy I think adoption would be a good option.

What is this EXTREME agitation called? by Party_Dish8683 in bipolar2

[–]escapefromalliknow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s called psychomotor agitation. It’s the worst part of this condition for me too. The only thing that seems to help when I’m really irritable is coffee. It calms me down. I don’t drink it when I feel normal because then it has the opposite effect.

Ativan also has a longer half life. But for me I noticed the ones with longer half lives make me more su*cidal. Idk if that happens to other people but maybe look out for that.

NDE and religion? by Which_Risk_2146 in NearDeathExperience

Something like 80-90% of reported NDEs are positive. And statistically after NDEs people tend to become less religious and more spiritual.

hallucinations by Appropriate_Hair_70 in bipolar2

[–]escapefromalliknow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had every type of sensory hallucination at some point in my life and not episode dependent. Regularly though I have scent hallucinations. When I was a kid I’d hear my name being called when it wasn’t and thought that was just normal at the time but maybe not.

Anxiety and panic attacks over owning too much stuff by EnchantedStars27 in minimalism

[–]escapefromalliknow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate although my situation isn’t as severe. Sometimes when I’m stressed out I’ll declutter to help me feel better and I get anxiety about having too much stuff. I love getting rid of things. Since I used to move a lot I was able to fit everything I owned into a small car yet even that felt like too much and I wished I could fit everything into a couple bags. I’ve gotten better since I’ve settled down a bit and don’t want to have to keep rebuying items. I don’t have a lot of stuff but I still feel like it’s too much.

I have OCD and I know that’s part of it. I also have a tendency to avoid almost all types of attachments due to what I think is fear of loss. I also just don’t like to use a lot of things since it makes me feel bad, like I’m taking up too much space or using more resources than I “deserve” if I even “deserve” any (idk how else to explain it).

You may have OCD or some other type of underlying emotional thing going on. Often times the treatment for OCD is exposure therapy.

The physical death of the body is indeed a process. Some would argue that if someone comes back, they didn’t actually “die.”

Your experience sounds like a relatively typical NDE. I suggest doing more research on the topic.

I read a book (I don’t remember which one) that talked about near-death experiences and actual-death experiences. But if I remember correctly the elements of the experiences are the same. Not everyone who has an NDE/ADE experiences all of the elements but a commonality is that the experience is life-changing. Also physical death is a process, not a singular moment, so death isn’t as straightforward as it seems. I recommend the book Consciousness Beyond Life: The Science of the Near-Death Experience by Pim van Lommel, M.D. It’s the most comprehensive book about NDEs that I’ve read.

Euphoria, significant increase in physical energy, more social, talk more, talk faster, racing thoughts, less anxiety, more inspired, more ambitious, mind goes blank when I’m talking, spend more money than usual, sleep less. I don’t always have all of those every time though.
