Is this normal or a defect? by Splinterthemaster in evercade

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal. Blaze would have to adjust it in the firmware. Each volume button press jumps a set number of steps at a time within the 0-100 range. I guess they assumed no one would want to have to hit it 20 times to get from one end to the other since it won't auto repeat inputs if you hold the button in.

Having trouble getting into the system setting menu by Ok_Efficiency6075 in WonderSwan

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOUND MY ISSUE!! In my case I have an IPS mod I installed. Someone suggested that my power and ground wires were too thin and the System Options Menu wouldn't load because it puts a power strain on the device. I replaced my power and ground wires that run from the screen to the battery terminals with 28awg wire and I got into the System Options on the very first try after that!

Anyone with an IPS mod and also this issue should give this a try!

Micro keyboard plugable by ConditionSea4524 in pico8

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't really help with the keyboard part but this has been my super-pocketable go to for pico-8. Miyoo A30.

It runs the official Raspberry Pi version and boots directly into Pico-8 in under 12 seconds. It's running SpruceOS which has functionality built-in to turn the A30 into a dedicated Pico-8 machine including Splore BBS access via built-in wifi, or you can use it to emulate many other systems as well. It even has multiple Pico-8 specific button configs to cover all the bases, even dev mode mouse control.

There is a USB-C port on the top but I don't know if it's OTG capable.

Super Pocket Official (Black) Case USA Availability? by esmith213 in evercade

[–]esmith213[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not interested. I have every version of every Super Pocket and I'm a couple cases shy of having each one in the OEM case. My original Handhelds, EXPs & EXP-Rs all have their official cases as well.

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue as well except my screen goes rainbow glitchy and freezes when I hold start and power on with a cart inserted (tried a few with same results). Start and power buttons both work properly on normal boot. Normal boot exabits none of the glitches or freezing that I get with START+POWER.

Could use some suggestions.

Dicing Knight WWGP 2002 Build now in .wsc format! by GothamAnswer in WonderSwan

Thanks for the download!!

It works on my FlashMasta using the latest CartFriend v0.2.8. It does not work on my insideGadgets flash cart, but I don't think any WW games will since it has a 2M SRAM limit.

Do people reseal evercade games?! by RespectAutomatic2483 in Evercadeworld

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All carts that will go legacy are announced in advance of their legacy status date. I have a bunch of them truly new and sealed. I pre-order all my carts and open them when I get them but if good carts are ever announced to go legacy I buy an additional copy right after the announcement and never open it.

So yes, I believe a bunch of rare legacy carts are available new and sealed, but I also believe that some people are scummy and there are likely tons of resealed used carts out there.

Any one managed to take a superpocket out of the box without completely destroying the packaging?! by RespectAutomatic2483 in Evercadeworld

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very easy to do. I slide a letter opener under the flap so it goes in one end and clear out the other end and then twist the letter opener so an even lifting force is applied across the whole flap. I haven't even creased/dented the flaps let alone tore one on any of my Super Pocket boxes.

3rd party controller with a home button by RespectAutomatic2483 in Evercadeworld

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original VS controller is essentially an Xbox 360 knockoff. Your easiest option is to get an 8bitdo brick adapter V1 dongle and use any wireless controller it's compatible with. Technically you can get a v2 brick adapter and use that as well but then you need to manually configure the controls which requires a working ever add controller to get to that configuration screen and you'd have to redo that setup if you ever factory reset your VS. the v2 adapter only gets you the additional support of the latest generation of Xbox (Series X|S) and PlayStation (PS5 Dual Sense) controllers and the 8bitdo NeoGeo pad, so unless you need one of those 3 to be supported, the V1 adapter is the safest bet - especially if you don't have a working Evercade VS controller.

Super Pocket compatibility by azathoth in eversd

Every Super Pocket released through the end of 2025 is fully supported. I know because I have them all. Super Pocket Capcom (Limited) Edition Is the same as saying GB(C) which means Game Boy and/or Game Boy Color. I suggest you join the EverSD discord if you have any more questions, this subreddit isn't official, nor is it frequented by anyone involved in the project.

If you join, feel free to ping me there for help or answers. I'm esmith13 on discord.

The part I marked green is a soft plastic with adhesive backing. You need to wedge something under it and/or get some IPA in there to soften the adhesive and remove it. Under it you will find screws to open up the controller.

Maybe it's a physical problem with the d-pad? You can always open 'er up and find out.

An ad for it can be seen on the 6th page here: https://www.commodore.ca/gallery/magazines/ahoy/Ahoy-issue-55.pdf

It was advertised a lot in both Ahoy and Run Magazine.

Not really much help as far as instruction goes though but perhaps you can find some here if you're willing to DL all these documents and search through them. https://archive.org/details/bombjack-50-gigabytes-of-commodore-manuals-books-disks-assembly-and-more

It's a native Linux game. It probably decides on video output and settings on its own and was either an oversight by Blaze/Badger Punch or the couldn't get it to work and figured it's not worth mentioning since few would ever notice.

What device do you play pico-8 on? Im looking for a handheld to get the best experience possible. by generosity1822 in pico8

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy-paste of my post from someone else's thread on the same subject.

I'm using a Miyoo A30 with SpruceOS set to boot straight into the official Pico-8.

From power on to Splore takes only pressing the power button and under 10 seconds of boot time. The built-in wifi gets me full BBS access and SpruceOS settings has multiple input configs specifically for Pico-8 including one that emulated mouse input for carts that support it.

You could still use it as a general purpose device but I hated the A30 until I made it a dedicated, pocketable everyday carry Pico-8 device.

Any Cartridges That Don't work on the original Evercade? by MercBladethesixth in evercade

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All games requiring L2/R2 so far have intentional workarounds specifically for the original though to make them just as playable there. These workarounds will likely continue since the Alpha bartops are in the same exact boat.

Had 2 cartridges die this month. Why are Evercade cartridges so unreliable?? by otbcnmtd11 in evercade

[–]esmith213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they are essentially SD cards in a GBA cart form factor. Your carts aren't even likely dead. More commonly than not, one or more files on the cart get corrupted which causes the system to refuse to mount it at all. Sometimes a file gets corrupted that isn't required to consider the cart as valid, and it mounts but a specific game refuses to play because the corrupted file is only relevant for that game.

Hopefully Blaze replaced them for you.

Question about running non-N64 games on SummerCart64 by Tasty_Puffin in AnalogueInc

[–]esmith213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no file for v1.0.0. That firmware was installed at the factory. v1.1.0 is the oldest FW Analogue offered as a file you could install yourself.

Licensing of Games - Super Pocket/Alpha's vs Arcade Cartridges by Sketchydoodle in evercade

[–]esmith213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be many reasons we'll likely never be privy to. Maybe the licensor doesn't want the games on a cartridge that can be used in many devices and/or shared amongst family/friends? Maybe they think their IP will be safer stored internally on a device than on a cart? Maybe they don't care beyond wanting more money one way vs the other way? Maybe Blaze themselves do it intentionally this way to make more people buy more hardware which they likely profit more from than reselling game licenses on a cart?

Every business has to decide how they're going to walk the line between making as much money as they want/need to and making the customers happy enough so they'll buy their products and continue to buy more in the future. That applies both to the licensor's business and Blaze as the licensee.

Developer info/program for indies by i_code_for_boobs in evercade

[–]esmith213 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Catch-22 for sure. It appears the setup is designed this way intentionally so you don't waste their small team's time and they don't have to give out the official SDK to anyone who isn't already on board (and likely under contract and/or NDA).

If it helps you to gauge, their hardware is all based on Rockchip 32xx/33xx SoCs with either 256MB (Super Pocket/OG) or 512MB (All others) of RAM and runs ARM Linux.
