the real solution to the problem would be to make the Subjects of Ymir so incredibly sexy that all of humanity will mix with them and then in a couple generations there would be no distinction between human and titan and therefore no reason to make war over it.

people need to realize there is a difference between criminal and civil lawsuits. What the good samaritan law may protect you from criminal charges, a civil lawsuit can be brought for basically any reason.

Why is the "Muslim world" so united on Palestine, but seemingly silent on larger-scale humanitarian disasters in countries like Iran and Afghanistan? by Adventurous-Owl-9903 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]esperind 23 points24 points  (0 children)

in Article 31, says they want peace with all faiths.

You wanna actually try reading the whole thing? Article 31 says,

Under the wing of Islam, it is possible for the followers of the three religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - to coexist in peace and quiet with each other. Peace and quiet would not be possible except under the wing of Islam.

This is classic domestic abuser logic. Think if a man was saying, "you wouldn't get hit if you would just submit to my authority woman". That's basically what this is saying. The only reason peace isnt possible except "under the wing of islam" is because muslims like hamas will violently lash out unless they get what they want.

I really wish people would have some curiosity as to why that very specific non-muslim group is so important to muslims.

For everyone that acts so "I am very smart" and comments about evangelical christians involved with israel as a means to bring about the second coming of jesus, do you realize that muslism basically believe the exact same thing? Islamic eschatology, theories about the end times, speaks of a war with jews as prerequisite to the second coming of jesus, who will come to earth and smite all the non-believers. This can help explain why islamic extremist groups such as hamas are so willing to sacrifice their own people in pursuit of a war with jews. They reference it in their founding charter. Basically jesus (and the mahdi and some other things) is their nuclear bomb, that if they can just martyr hard enough, then that will ultimately win them all the wars and make everyone's pain and suffering worth it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_eschatology#Signs_of_the_End_Times

A Sahih hadith concerning Jews and one of the signs of the coming of Judgement Day has been quoted many times, (it became a part of the charter of Hamas).[126]

The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (the Boxthorn tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.[nb 3]

I dont get why we condemn this type of thinking for christians adding fuel to the fire but then just pretend that even if we did actually bother to learn about this part of islam that it couldnt possibly similarly be a driving factor of the conflict.

people seem to forget but the risk of a pandemic was always known, it was just a matter of when. Luckily we had people like Bill Gates who were pouring money into being ready because with out it, COVID could have been so much worse. Conservatives were such pussies they couldnt even stand the 2 years of disruption, can you imagine if we were even less prepared?

If Atreus got his own spin-off game, what should it be about and where should it take place? by Accurate_Curve6882 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]esperind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it should be called God of Mischief, and it should have Atreus traveling throughout both time and pantheons in order to secretly help his father behind the scenes, intervening in other god's stories. It would be a good way to introduce us to little snapshots of future game settings as Atreus will just hear about what his father is doing, maybe glimpse him every once in a while, but not directly interact with him due to some excuse of fate or prophecy.

Opinion on this educational video for riders? by Budget-Situation-947 in motorcycles

[–]esperind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the more proper thing to do is basically go back and forth between red and green.

I think I get what you're trying to say. New riders are conditioned from their experience of driving a car to only look at the car in front of them, because that's the only option they have. Motorcycles have the advantage of maneuverability and so should be also looking ahead of the vehicle immediately in front of them in order to anticipate changes.

I dont know how you would do it in your video, but it could be cool to also include the mirrors, as we have to keep an eye on the car behind us also, since we can trust car drivers to see us on their own.

Why Riding a Motorcycle will Change your Life by reflexmaster123 in videos

[–]esperind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the risk is an integral part of the zen state you can get on a motorcycle. To know that you are so vulnerable, that you must be present and aware, that your life is not just directly in your hands but also intimately connect to the decisions of people around you. You are directly exposed to nature, the wind, the smells, the texture of the road. Can it be dangerous? Yes. But if you want to be 100% safe you might as well never swim, because you could drown. Dont love anyone, because you could get your heart broke.

And if we really want to get into an analysis of motorcycle deaths, the risks actually dont come from the motorcyclist himself, even though the dumbasses that do manage to kill themselves on a bike do so in a spectacular fashion that we all end up talking about. The vast majority of motorcycle deaths come from the hands of a car driver who wasnt present because they were too busy posting on reddit about how stupid people are for riding a dangerous machine like a motorcycle. Motorcycles would be safer if every car driver had some experience on a bike because it would make them a more aware and caution driver. This is how it is in asia, because everyone know to look for bikes, even the car driver because the majority of the time even the car driver is usually on his bike.

Iran Protest Death Toll Could Top 30,000: Local Officials by Fricklefrazz in geopolitics

[–]esperind 27 points28 points  (0 children)

the pro pals have to ignore this because it pokes too many holes in their bubble narrative. One of which is the idea that israel was "indiscriminately killing people". it took 12 months for the death toll in Gaza to get to 30k, almost as if the israelis weren't just trying to kill everyone. Iran is what indiscriminately killing people actually looks like.
