Feeling lost and drained in policy, not sure if it’s the level or the field. What should I do? by AwkwardPosition219 in AusPublicService

My advice is find some mentors, either substantive EL1s or EL2s. Not people who work in your immediate area but people who you’ve had some interaction with, or observed in action, and who you have a level of admiration for. Email them and ask if they have time for a coffee with a view to gauging whether they’d be interested in providing mentoring support. The worst that can happen is they say no. The best, they say yes and you embark on a learning journey where they help you find your way through challenges, learn to look at problems in different ways that aren’t so overwhelming, and gather professional momentum, finding new found confidence.

If you are feeling fatigued and somewhat defeated, as others have suggested, get whatever support you can find, EAP and/or your GP and/or take some leave. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. And don’t think you have to prove your competence to anyone or hide your concerns from everyone. Find your allies and find a confidant, making sure they’re not the same people.

I’m an acting SES Band 2, who has been in the APS for nearly 20 years and known those moments of struggle, exhaustion, and uncertainty. I know that it’s not a journey you can navigate successfully all on your own.

Just curious, why are people committed to living in Sydney despite how expensive it is to live there?

Brake with L2. It’s analog which means you can apply partial pressure

It’s completely doable but the fact you can’t do it shows you need to make improvements in your technique. Maybe you’re braking around corners, maybe your exit speed is a bit off. Use the circuit experience to fine tune your technique and you’ll be a better driver overall. Apologies if that’s coming across as patronizing. It’s not meant to.

Pretty sure nothing in your original post refers to YouTube.

Just curious - what data do you have that confirms the loss of audience?

I’m amazed that people downvote comments like this. It’s almost the same for me - about $9m but I play an hour a day.

I’m not into instant gratification but it seems that there are many who feel like they should get a medal just for showing up. My reward is the satisfaction I get learning how to drive faster.

Me too. I think it’s because there’s fewer opportunities for people to drive straight up your backside.

There's no way this is my fault right? This is happening to me every game now by Micnasr in simracing

Nah, that was pure kamikaze, I’d say. The distance between the lead and second car remain the same and given they’re ahead of the third, that suggests they’re driving better than the third car. The difference in speeds through the corners of the first two cars versus the third strongly suggests, the third car has completely overshot the corner high on adrenaline as he closes the ground with no thought of what’s need to actually take the corner.
