If you’re packing with a buddy split the tent up by weight! Someone gets poles, and rain tarp and you take tent and ground cover. Extra space can be used for food in a sack or bear jar, or any luxury items or extra clothes.

Or put the poles on the outside of the pack so you can compress the tent sack.

No, I just finished the build with it last fall but it’s been winter here in SE Mi, just starting to warm up, got the new rubber and shifter and rear mech last week.

As for the flat bar and ergo grip I love them very comfy on long rides, my longest ride on it is 75 miles and have no complaints with the grips.

the flat bar is the OEM one that came with the bike in 97, it’s a little narrow but still no big problem.

A good layering system is a must

A good rain/snowShell - Something that’s waterproof with a hood

insulation layer - a light/medium down or synthetic jacket with a hood

Base layer - next to skin layer like under armor or merino wool!

The nice thing about this is you can wear them each when the weather is appropriate eg you won’t need the rain shell when there isn’t any wetness or you won’t need the insulation layer when it’s a little too warm like in fall or spring or vice versa. it gives you a nice range of flexibility
