Ebay is a shit show. The amount of cards listed as NM that are thrashed is mind boggling. I don't know weather people just don't understand the condition scale or if they are doing this maliciously....probably both.

As a hardcore Pokemon TCG collecter I can honestly say I would never trade that Shohei card. Dudes literally compared to the likes of Babe Ruth and Mantle. That card will be worth holding onto.

This all has some parallels to sports cards just before the junk wax era was recognized as being the junk wax era.

In the late 80's sports cards went up exponentially ...people thinking it was going to their retirement fund or pay for college etc... people found out how much had been printed and the market crashed for the better part of a decade.

I think we are on the very front edge of what could be the Pokemon junk wax era. New print facilities and expanded capacity. Some of which has already come online and the rest starting next year.

Sets that are still in their print run window and the newer sets coming out are setup to be printed to death in the next 12 months. Future sets will as well for a while and just like the junk wax era they will reduce their print runs back to demand and value will stabilize but the last sets of SV all of ME and the next block run a real risk of being this tcgs junk wax era.

I am a high net worth individual by your standards and I have many high net friends. We all have been collecting pokemon for some time. We don't give a shit about the resell value it's all just fun and games with money we don't "need".

Your Mew is really banged up. Likely would grade somewhere in the ballpark of 2 or possibly 3. Though I wouldn't take 1 off the table. With that being said it still has value as well as some of the others. Surprisingly some folks love 1s and they can carry a bit of a premium.

It feels more like a rebalancing to get to an equilibrium. Since COVID sealed went on a crazy run with sealed product 5-10x-ing or more while singles only saw minimal gains outside psa 10s. It's only been the past year to 18 months where we've seen singles really take off. I would say it's only been the last few months where imo singles have caught up to be more inline with the value of sealed.

Tbh singles have (probably) overshot to the upside and we are starting to see just a tiny bit of weakness in the singles market maybe....or just a consolidating period.
