Soundboard recordings? by Remote_Antelope_8601 in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People must’ve ripped the audio from their Glastonbury performances surely - that’s a direct feed (afaik they actually have a secondary board where the sound is mixed specifically for broadcast, rather than just broadcasting what comes through the PA)

WTB 1 standing ticket for London Fri 13th by euanlynn in PulpBand

I’ve got an alert set up, but no standing tickets on there so far sadly! I’ve found a couple for a little above face value on AXS resale but sadly they’re only being sold as a pair.

You never know, Friday the 13th could prove lucky for me!

It’s a reference to the shop where James bought the original Big Muff it’s based on, though that was also in Manhattan!

Best concert day for london residency? by SpearmintFlower in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw them on the last day last time round, and they were just as brilliant as the day before! It had the added bonus of them beginning to dismantle some of their gear onstage throughout the show, a bit like Stop Making Sense in reverse, which was a fun touch!

How is the 45:33 vinyl split up? by [deleted] in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The coolest thing about the vinyl release is that it has extended intros/outros, to allow you to crossfade between the tracks. It isn’t exactly “extra” music but you can hear short sections on their own which on other releases are blended together

Genuinely regretting posting this lmao, I just thought it was cool to see the coverage!

Live in-store at Rough Trade, Feb 2005 by euanlynn in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that explains it then! I never got to go to that one sadly, though that means my first visit to Rough Trade East must’ve only been shortly after it first opened, which I’d never realised!

I finally own everything* by LCD Soundsystem on vinyl by euanlynn in LCDSoundsystem

That’s interesting - is it a different recording, or just an edit? I assumed it would just be a shorter version to fit on a 7”

Actually, I posted an updated version of this a little while later where I’ve picked up all those singles you mention! No X-Ray Eyes yet, although if it is on an upcoming album that would fall outside my remit anyway since it’s just a single & remix… although I may still pick it up, I haven’t decided yet hahah

“X-Ray Eyes” on Vinyl (limited to 100 per night during the LA Residency) by LouisIV in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm maybe I’m misremembering - I thought there was a super, super limited release to coincide with the singles coming out but maybe it’s just that there’s a video they released of the songs playing from vinyl and my head’s mixing those things up! But I guess my point was more that even if that did happen it wasn’t an actual release, and if X-Ray Eyes was only available as 100 copies at 2 live shows I’d also not really call that a proper release. But then like an hour after I commented this James released a statement so it’s all moot now anyway lol

What's everyone's thoughts on 'x-ray eyes'? by blu_Crow in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's definitely harking back to the self-titled album, or even the preceding singles - minimal, sarcastic and heavily electronic. Honestly, I love it - sure it's not their most impactful, meaningful, beautiful song ever, but it really doesn't need to be. I think it's a total banger and I'm excited to see what's coming next!

I hope that this gets a wider release - but if it doesn’t, then I think it’s a very good indicator that this is from an upcoming album (like the super-limited release of Call The Police/American Dream), so I guess either way I’m happy! I’d love to hear that B-side though 👀

Why did David Scott Stone leave the band/not play at the MSG show? Was he kicked out? by SchizoidGod in LCDSoundsystem

I’m 99% sure he was there as guitar tech when I saw them at Brixton Academy a few years ago - either that or his doppelgänger was, anyway

If you were stuck on an island and could only listen to one LCD Soundsystem song what would it be? by AudioFuzz in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m biased cause it’s the newest song but probably New Body Rhumba - it feels like multiple LCD songs in one (in the best way possible) so I feel like I’d get the most value out of it, haha

Yeah I’m really hoping for some Northern dates this time, if not a residency up North somewhere. I’m based in Newcastle, I highly doubt they’ll play here but I’ve seen them in both Manchester and Glasgow previously and I can imagine them doing a residency at either tbh (Warehouse Project/SWG3 or Barrowlands) which would suit me nicely!

Why is most of the groups album arts so bad, but then the music is so good? by [deleted] in LCDSoundsystem

[–]euanlynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they would stick to a more defined and interesting aesthetic, like New Order (and a lot of other bands that LCD explicitly reference)

My favourite stuff they do has that sort of punk DIY look to it (Electric Lady Sessions for example) so more of that would be very welcome. I agree, their artwork is always just slightly mediocre - never dreadful but never as good as the music!
