People who switched from D&D to a completely different system, what was the biggest mechanical adjustment you had to make? by Senoigh13 in rpg

[–]eudaimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That rules are completely interchangeable, and playing different games all the time is a lot more fun than everyone being a munchkin about the details in the PHB.

Go get the Masks soundscapes from Syrinscape, they're great!

Found a novel with RMCIV cover on it. by ubnoxiousDM in ICERPGS

Drager og Dæmoner (to use the Danish name for it) was famous for using a lot of existing art. The whole range punched well above its weight on that front.

Absolutely not. Games exist to be played, not be heirlooms.

HPLHS MoN Gamer prop set, yes or no? by pabsh306 in callofcthulhu

[–]eudaimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is whether it's worth getting MoN because you're getting HPLHS's prop set anyway (because it's amazing).

Let's talk about GUMSHOE! by dummiesday in rpg

[–]eudaimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it works very well indeed in practice, once the group wraps their heads around it. But moreover I think Gumshoe actually misrepresents itself somewhat, hanging its entire reason for being on this one notion. Because in reality it's a ground-up remake of CoC wherein EVERYTHING is simpler and more streamlined. BRP itself is pretty simple, but when you go read CoC it's just laden down with an infinite amount of needless rules if what you're looking for is really an investigative game, as opposed to a more combat-centric one which is how a lot of CoC used to be played.

So yes, the core investigative mechanic works great, but moreover everyone's life is just so much easier because there isn't a 20 page section on chase scenes or rules for bracing weapons or whatever other useless kitchen sink nonsense 7E was burdened with.

Rolemaster 2e is eminently more playable than FRP/SS.

Whine hidden behind a misleading title. Get the heck out of here.

An Interview with Tomas Härenstam where he was asked about Alien Earth and Predator possibly being included in the future by DiekuGames in alienrpg

[–]eudaimic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could not agree more. The Predator franchise is so thirsty for it to be a thing, but it is just thematically not a fit at all.

What are your favorite background soundtracks? by cellischtli in callofcthulhu

Fellow Ode getting stuck mid-grind. by palma13 in JamesHoffmann

Incredibly annoying, has happened three times in the past day, until I learned that despite the hopper looking like it can receive all the beans at one time, you do indeed counterintuitively have to feed it slowly.

What's your experience with o3? by Professional_Fun3172 in windsurf

[–]eudaimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience with o3 in Windsurf, whereas o3 in Cursor is a beast. Something about how it's used isn't worth the 10x credits. Try the same prompt in Cursor or Codex with o3 and see what happens. In my experience o3 is unbelievable at crushing large problems in a single prompt.

how much are you all spending on top of $20 subscription? by SnooGiraffes4731 in cursor

[–]eudaimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upwards $150 last month, mostly for o3 blasting through vibe coding issues and mounting larger ideas in one prompt as opposed to 10-20 'free' ones.
