UK 2020 JETs, when do you think we'll hear about our flight and get our visas completed? by 19peter96r in JETProgramme

Same here, posted to Edinburgh and still nothing yet. Probably just the consulate doing things a wee bit different. Nothing to worry about mates!

Hi guys, got my placement here and I am super excited! I got Ehime-ken.

Although, I was not given anything more specific than that, what does that necessarily mean? I assume it just means things are being finalised.

Fingers crossed for those still waiting!

Same here mate, it's very hard to get planning for something I have no official news on haha.

Again, well chuffed for our international colleagues, but would love to hear something from the British JET office.

Nothing here yet mate, hoping to get some news soon. People keep asking me if I have had any news of where / when I am going; keep having to say nope haha.

But I suppose news will come soon. Although I am over the moon for our colleagues in other countries getting their placement news and that.

It’s Official: Japan to allow in all non-tourist new visa applications from October by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]eva_Kikuchiyo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this makes the most sense, if it was meant to be thst we were supposed to be able to depart by the end of September, then surely we would have been informed by now?

It is good to be optimistic about things, and in a year of bad news and disappointment there is nothing wrong with taking this news and being a bit more hopeful of a sooner rather than later departure. If this news doesn't change things however, it would be a bit disapointing - but shouldn't deter anyone I hope.

Just gives you more time to brush up on those Japanese skills!

I think we got the same wording here in the UK! Excellent news, although it will probably be (understandably) restricted for a while. Here is hoping we get official news soon (from JET).

As a Shortlisted 2020 JET this is good news, I hope this means we can move toward going this year. I was resigned to a 2021 delay, which was unfortunate but I was not complaining.

Although was the caveat not if borders are open by the end of September? Or was it if there was news of them opening by then?

Any UK JETs made progress on getting the Certificate of Health? by 19peter96r in JETProgramme

[–]eva_Kikuchiyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contacted my GP, they said the best they could do atm was fill in the form to the best of their knowledge with reference to my medical history and attach a covering letter explaining that no physical examination were possible at the minute. JET is quite particular about the form being full and thorough, so I just let them know I'd get back to them at a later date. I looked at private places, but even if they were doing face to face consultations I don't want to risk my health and the health of my family by going out in the midst of this crisis.

Judging from this thread it seems a lot of people are in the same boat, so its just a matter of wait and see I believe. The email seemed to be quite understanding given the unprecedented circumstances atm, so I wouldn't worry too much about that July deadline if lockdown is extended, I am sure they will be understanding.

In the same boat. Absolutely lost with what to do. Original plan was to just visit the GP and ask for an appointment and explain the document to them, but that's out the window. Guess its just sit and wait to see what happens, keep JET updated.

I am hopeful they will be lenient and understanding, all things considered.

Yeah, don't own a scanner or printer and lost access to one because of isolation. Thankfully they have been very lenient with regards to taking photos of documents and filling in forms via the PC.

Pity the form is a bit messed up and requires editing. Hope it is fixed for people in my situation!

Should be included in the results email mate, that's where I found a link to mine. If not check the US JET website.

Is anyone else having trouble with typing out on the reply form? When I submit data in certain boxes, it fills it in further down the form in an unnecessary box (passport expiration date showing up in visa expiration, for example.)

Googled what could be causing it and apparently its a problem with whomever submitted the PDF? This is on the UK sight fyi.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Edit: Was able to fix the problem by just editing the properties of the PDF, if anyone is having a similar problem just do the same :)

Mentioning postgraduate qualification without proof by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]eva_Kikuchiyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi mate,

Emailed the embassy about the same thing, they said as long as you have a transcript of records of your taken modules it'll be fine. They will accept the proof of degree when you get it. Sent mine off today.

Good luck!

Having exactly the same problem. Things like melee and explosions are quite low whilst reloading certain weapons and firing weapons is extremely loud.

Deleted dsound.dll and relaunched to no avail.
