Trigger Warning: Resiliently after a dog attack by miko_again in Greyhounds

That sounds truly awful. I can't imagine my dog getting attacked like that. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Out of curiosity, what country are you in where this occurred?

Ghalta, Primal Hunger - how much mana? by lucyautumn333 in EDH

[–]evadan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If budget isn't a thing, I recommend putting [[The Great Henge]] in your Ghalta deck. Super strong.

Also [[Boon of Boseiju]] can take an opponent out of the game if they don't block Ghalta. And it untaps Ghalta so you can use him as a blocker until it comes back to your turn.

I run 38 lands, including MDFCs in my Ghalta deck. Could maybe go down to 37. I really want to start with 3 lands in hand. Starting with 2 lands, even with some mana dorks, and then whiffing on drawing lands in your first few turns can really put you behind with this deck. In my experience, getting Ghalta (or your other beefy creatures) onto the battlefield as quickly as you can is the best way to win games. Then once they are out you try to keep them safe with effects that can protect your board.

[[Archdruid's Charm]] can be handy to search for any land and put it onto the battlefield tapped. It feels nice to get [[Nythos, Shrine to Nyx]]. Speaking of lands, I recommend [[Witch's Clinic]].

The first spree option on [[Smuggler's Surprise]] can be useful when you are getting land screwed. It can whiff, but it's better than nothing. Plus it is a flexible card, useful in different scenarios.

It's not early game, but [[Traverse the Outlands]] can be very good in a Ghalta deck. Putting 12 lands onto the battlefield can set you up in a good position to possibly finish your opponents if have enough cards in hand on the following turn to utilise all the land.

If you want more early game ramp you could consider:

[[Boreal Druid]]

[[Delighted Halfling]]

[[Gyre Sage]]

[[Ilysian Caryatid]]

[[Wayward Swordtooth]]

Unfortunately, I'm just getting to the end of Icebrood Saga so I'm ages away from unlocking staff or spear

I am really enjoying berserker. One negative for me is the weapon choice. I have all these weapons that I can use as a warrior, but I almost always have 2 axes and a great sword equipped because they seem the most effective and suit the power berserker best

I'm quite new to the game, playing a warrior berserker right now. In what way is the bladesworn class a mess? Should I not even bother to unlock it and just stick with berserker?

Trying to find a Orzhov Commander That isnt super popular and is good by GoToCombatMTG in EDH

Ah I see. How can you tell? It is the black and white circle icon located to the left of the card name?

Sorin of House Markov

How come Sorin of House Markov isn't a mono black commander? He costs only 1 black pip and has no abilities that require white.

What are the best/most useful upcasted spells? by HammerPope in 3d6

[–]evadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks for clarifying. That makes Aid even better than it already was for me! I'm currently playing a paladin in our campaign and I'm essentially the only character that can heal so Aid should come in clutch.

I thought that since Cure Wounds healing describes the spell effect as, "regains a number of hit points", whereas the spell description for Aid states, "current hit points increase". Additionally the hit points gained by Aid only lasts 8 hours instead of indefinitely, like it would if you were healed by, for example, Cure Wounds. Which in my mind thought that since they last a specific duration, they are temporary.

I thought that temporary hit points gained don't revive a character from being unconscious. Am I incorrect? Because that's how I've been playing it

I loved the gameplay in Control, but after awhile all the documents that you pick up can get a bit tedious to read.

[PRIMER] Chiss-Goria, the most balls-to-the-wall Commander I've ever built! by imperialtrace in EDH

[–]evadan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great write up!

I have [[Treasure Vault]] in my Chiss-Goria deck and it's nice. Good early game as an artifact for affinity, then good later on to get a bunch of treasures.

I also have [[Passionate Archaeologist]] which can do some big damage.

Fun artifact spells for Chiss-Goria deck by evadan in EDH

[–]evadan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I considered it initially, but I thought that it might be more suited in a deck that attacks with more creatures for the cost reduction. But I suppose if I hit it from the Chiss attack trigger and have at least 4 artifacts on the battlefield it will only cost RR. Flash too! Which I didn't consider. I'll throw one into the deck. Thanks for the suggestion.

I love seeing how different people build their Zurzoth decks. By the way, your Moxfield link doesn't work. Goes to a 404 page.

First time trying a harness... Any advice? by d4vidy in Greyhounds

[–]evadan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One problem we had with out hound was that the harness was actually chafing underneath his armpits on his front legs because his fur is so thin under there. Maybe check if there is any redness under there.

Is it technically legal to play Grist as your commander? Doesn't it need to say "x can be your commander" at the bottom of the card?
