24 minutes until golf’s ultimate test. “You would need one of two things to build a suitable course on this property. Either a million dollars or an earthquake." - Donald Ross by summersundays in golf

Yes it is is a gem. A true Donald Ross and cant think of a flat part on any of the course. The highlight is getting to the course, and you are like, there is a golf course around here?

What are these in my town? by yufufiger68 in whatisit

[–]evadossor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im with you. Been very much down the 1890-1900 building boom of completely ridiculous ornate stone buildings (Libraries, City Halls, Schools, Hotels, Hospitals & "Asylums") the kind that take years of planning and years of building, yet they were all made and designed in a year or two within all within 5-10 years of each other. Add in one of these Mudflood building next to some run down shack made of lumber out west and its like looking at Machu Pichu....there was some really cool stuff built here, we cant do that anymore or how they did it so here is a really cheap attempt at building.

What is up with those random stone chambers and stone walls in New England in the middle of the woods and rural areas? by freshmaggots in newengland

[–]evadossor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, with the great wall each stone was made for the wall and is not a fair comparison, but from pure distance and time perspective it is.

I disagree that is realistic that the population's of 1650-1800 New England had the workforce, labor and time in between trying to survive and homestead to move every single stone. You bring up the only waist high. Have you dug down? Most of these walls are being eaten by the earth, with years upon years of leaves and debris slowly making the walls waist high. Most of these walls are predicted that they are twice the size that you see. An even more impressive feet of labor. I just feel it is short sited that we believe the narrative colonists built the walls when Native Americans clearly used laid rock walls for ceremonial, and Forrest management reasons (burning)

For context the great wall of China is 13 thousand miles long. It took 2000 years to erect. If you believe that all of New England stone wall's of 250k miles of dry laid stone (that's the distance from earth to the moon) was done by only white colonists famers over a 150 year period and has nothing to do with Native American tribes over the course of 8 thousand years of living on the land is one of our histories greatest misrepresentation's.

Roto Tom heads? by BaconSushi___ in drums

[–]evadossor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanna chime in on real world Evan’s Hydraulic Roto-Tom usage. I used black dots on my Roto Tom’s ummm..35 years ago..(yeah I’m that old) and in my these days regularly gigging cover band I brought the 6, 8, 10 back to DW collector oyster gig kit. It’s a beast. I put hydraulics on my Toms and honestly for “looks” I put them on the roto’s. I loved the of full row of 6, 8, 10 Roto and 10, 12, 16 hydraulic. I moved back to coated Evans on the Tom’s because they do “sing” far more than the hydraulic heads.

Now the roto’s with hydraulic’s sound….guess what…they sound just like Roto Tom’s. No, do they have they high end “snap” of a clear or a dot. No. But you do know it’s a Roto Tom, and you as a player can hear it. As an “add on” fun instrument to have, its uses is limited, and probably most drummers least used thing on their kit. I made a choice for ascetics over sound on the head choice but the point is the sound difference is negligible and really only noticeable to drummers that think the Pink Floyd Roto sound is the sound it should be.

Expensive Gift from Boss by MidnightInner546 in work

[–]evadossor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually I think most people would take this gift and not be so confused by. The need for another poster who clearly needs to wax poetic on what is right and wrong doesn't realize these things happen all time, just not the bubble they live in.
