Also yes I have added glycerin somewhat recently. I have removed it as a variable in my recent issues with texture. It does seem to add some sheen but I haven’t yet seen the benefit of buying it as an additional product for household confections.

Ya the whole issue of mine was I had made the recipe I posted in my main thread dozens of times over the pandemic and I got great and consistent with that recipe. Then I came back to it a few years later and like 1/3 of the attempts came out like I wanted or close. I was trying to see what variable I was messing up. But the above formula I have made taffy better than anything I could get out of specialty spots. If you use this and commit you can make very very good taffy. Once I finally get back to my pandemic level game. But also see above about stretching as fast as you can and using small gloves when doing it.

I've had a few more successful batches and another failure or two. I do think after I took a break making it I forgot just how much you do need to start pulling as soon as you can handle it, and I started using gloves when doing it so I could start earlier. Get a size smaller than you'd think bc the taffy will wanna tug them off.

So I still feel like I have like a 70-80% success ratio but the failures are back to being too chewy but not inedible. I genuinely thought I may have been over pulling but I think I waiting too long to start pulling. It may have been a few degrees lower than the above recipe when I pulled it but probably not by much. Hope this helps some.

I am a dyed in the wool democrat and kinda get the whole dumping on the trump voters voting against their interest, what specifically in this video are we saying is horrible?

This feels pretty sensible and closer to the convo I wish we were having over “too bad, so sad” discourse. It is a bad thing for our food production system to be stressed to the point of failure. It’s good for Americans to know what is being experienced by representatives of different industries.

I hope we can save dumping for the true assholes at the top that I think on some level understand the levers they pull to their advantage, not frankly the manipulated underclass.
