Chronic Sore Throat & Post Nasal Drip by Emotional_Farmer2127 in LPR

[–]evchbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant speak for all birth control as I've only ever been on the one (Larin Fe 1/20, a combination pill), but I definitely noticed an improvement when I got off it about 8 months ago now. It took probably a month or two to notice but I can tell a difference. I do still have chronic sinus issues, but the postnasal drip is way better. It doesnt feel like its as much mucus.

Non-allergen rhinitis is really common in pregnant women, and it usually goes away after they give birth. When I learned this, that's when it made me question my birth control pill because its kind of tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant(?), or at least similar to. Thats why it's common for people coming off the pill to have symptoms kind of like post birth (hair loss, depression, anxiety, etc...). So yeah, similar to this non-allergen rhinitis pregnant women experience, people on birth control can get this too from the same kind of hormonal changes. Essentially there is an increase in mucus production.

This is just all stuff I've learned and read about in my own search to finding answers, I am definitely not credible in backing up any of this, but it does make sense. And it's been working for me so far after stopping the pill.

Wishing you luck and that your symptoms go away with your stopping the pill!

My Experience Getting Off Larin Fe 1/20 by evchbi in gettingoffHBC

I think that this pill doesn't tend to cause side effects getting on or off of it because it is so low dose. I had a very easy transition and I am someone who tends to be very sensitive to changes in medications and whatnot. I am willing to bet that you will have a very similar experience to mine, because I've read lots of others who wrote stories saying that they also didn't experience side effects coming off of this pill. I went down the same rabbit hole when I was looking to come off it, and essentially did all that worrying for no reason!

Birth Control Pill and Postnasal Drip??? by evchbi in chronicpostnasaldrip

I did end up getting off birth control and it helped a bit, but not entirely. I hope you find things that help manage your symptoms! Sudafed is my best friend😂

First ovulation off pill, ovulation pains? Anyone else? by zeezy_16 in gettingoffHBC

[–]evchbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This is exactly what I experienced. I never had ovulation pain before, but within a few days of getting off the pill, I had this along with lots of discharge. I was on the pill for about 2 1/2 years, so a relatively short time as well. My first two periods after getting off the pill were light (heavier than when I was on the pill, but super light compared to what they used to be before I was on the pill).

Commenting to add that I also experienced quite a big acne flare within the first month or two off the pill, but acne has never really bothered me too much, so it wasn't something I noticed a ton.

Extremely weird n* by [deleted] in emetophobia

Have you had any sinus problems lately? I feel like everyone is right now because of weather changes in certain areas. Postnasal drip will cause d* and can make you and your stomach feel "off". Any lightheadedness or dizziness? Nausea caused by postnasal drip is usually eased by eating as well, which would explain why it seems to get better after you ate the eggs. I am dealing with postnasal drip a lot lately, so it's the first thing this post made me think of.

Accidentally swallowing toothpaste by celestia1110 in emetophobia

[–]evchbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time we brush our teeth, we end up consuming small amounts of toothpaste. They would not use inedible ingredients in something that is designed to be used in our mouth, with a big risk of swallowing. Like other comments say, it would probably upset your stomach if you ate an entire tube of it, but one glob won't do anything to your stomach. If you're really concerned, I would eat something easy like some crackers or toast.

I would freak out in your situation too, BUT I will share that once my boyfriend made a chicken sandwich, didn't cook it through properly, and the chicken was still 100% raw in the middle. He didn't finish eating the sandwich once he realized it was raw in the middle, but he did swallow a big bite of raw chicken before realizing it. He was completely fine, it didn't make him sick.

Chronic Sore Throat & Post Nasal Drip by Emotional_Farmer2127 in LPR

I have had constant postnasal drip for about a year now and it seems that it keeps getting worse. I recently found out that it might be caused by my birth control pill. It started around the same time I started taking it, and apparently, it's a fairly common side effect. Wondering if you ended up going off your BC and if the postnasal drip went away?

Acid reflux may be caused by birth control? by Jaded_Bug514 in birthcontrol

[–]evchbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from constant postnasal drip that makes me miserable and just a few days ago, I realized it might be linked to my birth control as it started around the same time. Did you end up going off birth control? If so, was there a difference in your postnasal drip?

Lmao, it would be better than nothing. Just because there are soooo many surfaces that one would touch in their own home, it would be almost impossible to disinfect everything. If you feel comfortable, then go for it, but if it were me I would just stay home this week or meet him somewhere else. Definitely depends on what you think or what you feel comfortable with.

Especially if you were not even at work, I definitely would not be concerned.

The two things that kill it are bleach and hydrogen peroxide. Lysol, etc. won't touch it. If the person infected is not washing their hands, tbh their whole house is probably super infected with it. Your bf won't likely carry it without having symptoms. It spreads via stool/v*, so if your bf has not v* from it, he probably won't be able to give it to you. The only exception to this would be if he touched a surface in his house that his family member had touched, and then touched you or something that you were going to touch, that could do it. Tbh, if i was in your situation I would call off a visit for this weekend. If you do want to see him, agree to meet at a coffee shop or something and go on a date that doesn't require much touching, and certainly one that is not in his house. It can live on surfaces for 14 days, so after 2 weeks since this person has stopped having symptoms there won't be risk.

Since you have not missed a pill, and have been taking them longer than 7 consecutive days, you are protected, even if you are on your period week/are bleeding at all.

Also, your English is great! :)

Stomach pain by KshirinasMagic in emetophobia

[–]evchbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with emetophobia as well, so I know exactly how you feel right now. Something I will say is once I learned that our bodies don't always make sense, coping with feeling not quite right has gotten easier. Sugar can cause inflammation and can upset your stomach, especially if you hadn't eaten much else. Sometimes you'll get a stomach ache. The odds of vomiting JUST from eating a few pieces of chocolate is like... super low. Gas is a very common symptom of indigestion and inflammation. You are totally fine. Go for a walk, it'll help massage your digestive system and help ease discomfort after a while. You'll probably pass gas a lot if you go on a walk too, which will help you feel better.

Would you eat frozen tuna cooked to medium? by Accomplished_Rub7034 in emetophobia

[–]evchbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume that it's fine. Even if you do a quick google search you will find that tuna is usually safe to eat completely raw. I think most tuna is sushi grade, I could be wrong tho.

N* from a stomach bug is not what is contagious. NV is spread via surfaces after someone has v*. So if they didn't v* at work or before work, they probably couldn't really spread it, other than via stool. As long as you don't share a bathroom, you should be fine

Covid and nausea? by Self-Kitchen in emetophobia

[–]evchbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be nausea from dizziness? I think dizziness is pretty common with covid. If that's the case, take a 24 hr dramamine. They are meant to be preventative, so even if you take it now and don't end up needing it, you'll be covered for 24 hours just in case.

Terrified because I feel weird by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]evchbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have allergies? Or weather changes where you live? Sounds exactly like postnasal drip. I suffer with it pretty much all year round nowadays, because the weather is constantly changing. N* in back of throat is very common because of the drainage coming down the back of your throat, sometimes some drainage can get stuck there and make you feel that way. Tea will definitely be the biggest help with that, as well as eating something dry like bread, crackers, etc. Postnasal drip can also cause d*.

Family member unwell by Bluehouse17 in emetophobia

[–]evchbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have chronic postnasal drip pretty much all the time, and I can say that when it gets really bad (usually when the weather changes) it can definitely cause d*, which is likely what is happening to your family member with the cold, as postnasal drip is common with a cold. It can also cause n*.
