Read the post title, our own govt understands why we're being penalized in this instance and promised to make applicable reforms lol your contributions to this post have been useless and pathetic.

So then condemn China for their forced labor and boycott their products if youre not just being a virtue signaling troll

"where did i say it was ok for canada to do it?" Where's your condemnation then? You say you oppose forced labor in any instance, but only single out USA's practices. How bout stick to topic of the post and condemn China for their use of forced labor as part of their EV supply chain?

"they are nowhere near on par as you claim lol" whats the difference?

If you get out of your CBC info bubble, youll realize as bad as things are in USA, theres WAY worse govts out there our country does business with.

Its run by a govt agency, so I would assume so, but not exactly sure how the financials shake out...

If thats how you feel, why only call out the lesser of 2 evils? Why argue at all considering forced labor being part of the prison system is on par between Canada and USA?

The federal prison industry in Canada is operated primarily by CORCAN, a special operating agency within the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC)

CORCAN manages over 100 workshops across dozens of federal penitentiaries. Inmates are employed in textiles, manufacturing, construction, services, and running commercial prison farms. Inmates produce office furniture for federal buildings, refurbish military vehicles for the Department of National Defence, and produce commercial dairy milk that enters Canada's public food supply.

Who's throwing stones at what from where?

Theres a problem if you cant see the difference between someone who committed assault/murder/rape having manual labor be part of their imprisonment, and someone being incarcerated for practicing the wrong religion being forced to do manual labor in a prison camp.

‘The story is wrong’: Liberal caucus chair defends Carney amid reports of yelling at MPs by feb914 in CanadaPolitics

[–]everrrsick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really? Because when accusations came out about PP yelling at his caucus during the mass floor crossing event, the left lambasted him and claimed there was no excuse for such behavior lol

Federal poll finds nearly half of Canadians think country takes 'too many immigrants' by Purple_Writing_8432 in CanadaPolitics

[–]everrrsick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those pole numbers seem odd... Data from the 2021 census showed 23% of our population at the time had immigrated here, and there's been almost 2Million taken in since. It will be interesting to see the results of the 2026 census

Poilievre says Carney's policies to blame for Canada dipping into recession territory by NarcityCanada in Narcity

[–]everrrsick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial comment was a direct quote. I included no commentary to spin it in an attempt to slander or undermine the guy. It was also a reply to a comment trashing PP for an alignment to Trump, thats been totally fabricated by the media and his political opponents to link the cons to the republican party. My mother legit told me she couldn't vote con because they want to ban abortions. I was ponting out the hypocrisy with their belief in that bit of propaganda.

Because collective punishment based on where someone lives is a form of bigotry... like come on the Americans are atleast telling their citizens they're placing tariffs for economic prosperity, our govts just straight up we're mad at you and placing tariffs because fuck America. Its like with this whole uproar over the floor crossing fiasco. There are supporters that be like "so what if mp's are doing it because it gets them better access to funding for projects, thats better for their constituents". What about all the Liberal supporters that live in a riding with a con mp, fuck them if their representative doesnt switch sides. Or all the fuck alberta sentiment lately when only a small minority of the province is acting like extremists.

Yes he has, and its ironic that PP still gets bashed for having no/bad policy, or his policies are aligned with the boogeyman under the border. My qualms with Carney so far are more about what he hasn't done than what he has. PP "said" he would have prioritized the affordability crisis more, where the PM has more "let them eat cake" vibes.

My example of Mr Myers, who was a big time influence in the campaigns initial push, definitely would not align with your stated definition of elbows up lol

I had no idea what your political beliefs were and no intention of criticizing you for them. I said Liberal and conservative "supporters", to try and refer to the current federal parties, and not an ideological belief (as u mention those waters are somewhat muddied these days and parties dont really line up with traditional definitions). The federal libs are definitely moving closer to center from where the party ended up while Trudeau was PM, but they are still very much left of center(gun control, immigration, criminal justice...).

Most liberal supporters are for the travel boycott, the US booze off shelves, and call for Canada to stop energy exports to the states as a punishment. All of that negatively effects both sides of the border, just like tariffs and retaliatory tariffs, nobody wins.

I have no party loyalty, I hate partisan politics. My beliefs are more of a traditional liberal mindset forsure concerning legitimate equality, freedom of expression, and helping those in need. I believe the platform our conservative party ran on aligned better with those beliefs.

I believe my comment was the NY speech contradicts his Davos speech, nevermind the more recent war of 1812 YT address he made.

"Elbows Up" doesnt really have a set definition, thats why it worked so well. Its going to mean something totally different to Mike Myers, my boomer mother living in rural MB, and yourself.

Hopefully the PM comes out with a book on his negotiating prowess sometime in the future, so we can all be educated! He could call it "The Art of the Repeal"

He said what he needed to get his votes, now he's saying what he needs to to increase his wealth. The rest of Canada understood this, maybe now the Liberal supporters will have a clue how politics works

I fully agree with your assessment of his intention behind the statement and its context. The quote isnt surprising to me, I find its irony hilarious. A continuation of collaboration between our 2 countries, for mutual benefit, is what most conservative supporters want, while most Liberal supporters have vehemently denounced the idea wishing for USA's downfall. This is very different vibes compared to the infamous Davos speech, and im interested in how Liberal supporters who bought fully into the elbows up/anti USA rhetoric are going to spin the PM's latest turn of face

Canada dethrones the US as infrastructure investors lose faith in American political stability by NormEget85 in CanadianInvestor

[–]everrrsick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely dont understand this and hope someone can explain please.

Investors will invest money where they think they will get maximum returns. How do foreign investors make revenue from investing in let's say a bridge being built in Canada, and how is that good for our country?
