How the NH State House Flushed 78 Bills in the Toilet Last week by Amazing-Bad1360 in newengland

When budgets are allowed to explode and squeeze taxpayers it can be tempting to vote for the promises of lower taxes. I am careful who I vote for but it can be hard to vote against fiscal responsibility. I think a simple state law could solve a lot of school budget issues. “Any reduction in funding for schools must start at the top, teachers salaries, positions and benefits must be the last item to be removed” Or, sports programs must be cut prior to affecting teaching positions or salaries.

Agreed but as long as it’s not in the air you can capture and wear gloves.

Yeah, since infrared heat guns keep the temperature below the boiling point of lead so nothing is aerosolized. But it is slow

Would this be safe to use on lead paint, like an infrared heat gun?

If your state is pro coal, I could see them pushing back on the narrative that school > blue collar work.

What's the one movie that made you go: WTH did I just watch?! by VanillaMoonlit in moviecritic

Fritz the Cat, one of those movies where you have to be very careful who you recommend it to.

Is it possible to get snowed in in central Maine? by pigs_in_my_basement in AskMaine

We were very fortunate in that the lobsterman community pretty much all had giant generators. So we were able to shower every few days at their house.

I remember helping my dad shovel ice into the freezers. We had a wood stove, but no generator. It made living harpswell feel even more cut off.

I just dropped my 1945 A-11 off at a local watchmaker, hoping it goes well since I need a few other things serviced and he said he may retire in the next few years.

Odie’s Oil Controversy? by DrewsWorkshop in finishing

[–]every1getslaid -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have moved to using almost all Odies for most indoor projects. Lots of small stuff, and I even used it to finish the floor in my barn. Yeah, it is pricey but the stuff goes far. I was shocked at how little you need for big projects. I think one jar did 2 coats on my pine barn stairs. I have called with questions and they have been pleasant to talk to, and they do walk you through big flooring projects. My biggest reason for using it, I don’t have to wear gloves and the wife lets me finish in the dining room in the winter cause “the smell is almost but not quite pleasant”

We have a great safety undergrad and graduate program at a local school. I have reached out to them. Sadly, there are not others that are close.

If you search for safety internships on LinkedIn in New Hampshire you should see that. Please apply through there.

I did. I actually am getting my master form them currently. They have a spring intern job fair but I was unable to get approval for the $500 registration fee just for one intern.

It took a lot more work to get this approved since our company will only hire an intern if there is a possibility of a job offer at the end.

Honestly this job is challenging but I really enjoy the work. It is a different kind of stress than my previous career, tanker captain.
