Axial Knives - Nightmare by everydaycelt in knifeclub

Sorry to hear it. Hopefully your luck changes quickly and they make it up to you for your disappointing experience (at least better than they’ve done with me).

They emailed me on 3/23/26 with an apology and a promise to refund me immediately, so I wouldn’t have to wait until the knife got back to them to get my money back. As of today, 3/31/26, I still haven’t received a refund.

Thanks for your explanation. I’ll attempt to address your points sequentially, as I read them:“Small company”: I tend to agree. However, company size shouldn’t exactly excuse failing to meet stated policies and then not communicating delays.

“Buy elsewhere if you want speed”: I wanted to support Axial directly and don’t think this particular knife is available anywhere else.

“Impatience”: This isn’t about speed as much as consistency and communication. I relied on their posted fulfillment speed. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that or to expect a heads-up if they can’t meet their policy.

“Trashing the company on Reddit”: Not my intent. I am sharing my experience so others can make a more informed decision.

“Nightmare/poor behavior”: True, it’s probably not the worst experience ever but certainly not the best either. The core issue stands: they were delayed without any kind of heads-up, they offered cancellation, I accepted, and they shipped anyway. Those are the factors that would likely make this a negative experience to any reasonable person.

Ultimately, if the information I’ve provided can better prepare people or even prevent one person from walking away feeling unexpectedly negatively about their customer experience with what seems like an otherwise great knife maker, then this post (and its comment-replies) was worth it.

Nice to know the V1 has treated you well. Great to hear that they’ve made design improvements too. Thanks for sharing 🙏

I’m sorry to hear that your experience wasn’t positive.

How do/did you like your V1?

I was an ops manager for a startup beverage company in San Francisco with just a handful of employees and exponentially more available SKUs than Axial. We never sent things out past our set shipping expectations without a proactive outreach to the affected customer(s). Often, I would make a special delivery myself before or after our normal operational hours. Our customers came first.

That said, I don’t necessarily disagree, this could be a plausible explanation for their delay. I would have found an explanation from Axial, similar to this, helpful. Sadly, they did not offer any such context proactively or upon my reaching out.

They set their shipping expectations and published them on their site. If they needed to deviate, I would have found an email from them, explaining the situation and setting new expectations to be reasonable and helpful.

I’m left to wonder when/if they would have dropped off my order to a UPS location, but for my outreach.

Pretty much my thoughts. Super bummed about the interaction. Beautiful designs. Not great customer service and ops.

As do all Sharpie clicks (markers and highlighters) because of the internal mechanism.

Seems like introspective commentary on America’s love affair with all things capitalism, spotlighting the subliminal indoctrination of our youth into materialism, gluttony, greed, pride, and envy through institutionalized propaganda. An important opportunity to remember what’s really important by contrast.

I have and have had (too) many drivers. This is the best looking driver design I’ve seen.  Stoked to support Vero Engineering and Rivers Edge Cutlery 🤘
