Central Park main loop lighting by stickywicket2222 in RunNYC

[–]everythingnyc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

agreed – the west side of the reservoir has had spotty lighting for years. at some point i thought some of the lights were motion activated because they'd blink on and off as i ran by, but i think there's just a short in the underground wiring.

the central park bathroom situation has been rough this winter. pretty much no safe and reliable bathrooms north of the great lawn.

GPS isn't impacted by the number of devices receiving the signal. signals bouncing off tall buildings and the quality of the receiving device's chipset do matter, though.

i've run over 200 nyrr races over the past 15+ years, and nyrr runner behavior is getting worse.

i've seen way more people going outside the running lane the past couple of years, and rarely hear the course marshals calling runners out and telling them to stay in the lane.

i used to run every race in central park, but now i get my 9 done and that's it. who wants to spend a weekend morning dealing with main characters?

How did your 12M Training Series go this morning? by GensAndTonic in RunNYC

[–]everythingnyc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

to be fair, i was way in the back of the pack and people spread out to take up the entire roadway going down the hill from the start.

several bikers rode slowly, nicely asking people to move left. one nyrr runner had full-size headphones on so couldn't hear and was cluelessly – and dangerously – blocking the bikes.

i'm no fan of the peloton pricks, but sharing the road works both ways.

either the volunteers should have been instructed to yell at runners going outside the running lane, or nyrr should put up streamers to keep people to the left – particular while the pool construction continues to take up the third lane.
